Subject: Treating leather sofas and chairs
Easy and effective solution.
When I posted this question about the effect leather and how to treat ones listening chair and sofa, some one suggested putting a a white paper underneath one of its four legs making it an effective three legged chair.
However my leather chairs and sofas do not have four legs .They have width length metal (2) supports on their ends. This leather chair is very comfortable. Every day it is like a musical chair. Me, my wife and our 2 year old grandson compete for that leather chair. Treating it with Morphic fluid and applying Cream Electret and sticking few foils to the metal bars made no significant difference.
The CCU ring tie on safety pin costing about 30$ is an easy effective solution. This not only makes a difference for the better in perception of audio, surprisingly causes enhancement of video perception. The best part is people sitting on a sofa nearby also can feel the difference. Hence it is not limited to the one sitting on that chair only. The information sheet says it can be used on all curtains, carpets and upholstery. For me it is a P.W.B. product which can give instant significant gratification like Frosted Foils, X Foils without much time or labor involved. My results may be subjective- But for me coffee in a nice cup tastes better than coffee from a Styrofoam cup though the coffee may be the same.

I'm pleased someone else tried these little CCU Ring Ties, which, as you say are wonderfully effective. What I like most is that they are easy to fit, and if applied to the underside of a cushion, are 'activated' if someone sits on the cushion!
Glad they helped.
There is a free tip for fabrics that has been written about elsewhere, not as good, but do people know of it?

Subject: Treating a wrist watch
Treating a wrist watch;
Most of us wear a battery operated wrist watch- steel backed which sits close to three important nerves, radial ulna and median nerves and several meridians and acupuncture points as per Chinese medical systems. We have it on our body for a significant time. I guess and as per what I have read it may have some adverse effects on us.
Treating a watch with any Cream or Morphic fluid is not practical as it wears away in no time. One can stick a rainbow foil to the back steel plate. I tried that, But it does not have any notable effect. The only thing I can think of is attaching a disc , like green magna disc or using other foils. Any suggestions, thoughts and comments?.

Others correct me if I am wrong but I believe the treatment for a wrist watch is the Red Magnadisc .I have had one on my wrist watch for quite a few years now but it is now due for replacing since the layers are starting to slide apart. ( expect an order for one any day now May ).

Subject: treating a wrist watch- Thanks
I will order some red discs this week. Thanks for your post. Any comments or suggestions about treating eye glasses?? Apart from freezing, cleaning with Morphic fluid and sticking a Rainbow Foil on the side bars. I thought foils on the oblique bars which go behind the ears may be a better place.
I heard that eyes are the windows to the mind (brain), few posts in audiogon suggests that listening without eye glasses is better as it probably avoids reflections and sypathatic resonance. Someone even suggested wearing eyeglasses with metal frames may short circuit left and right hemispheres.
Anatomically the oblique eye glass supports are close to the 7th and 8th cranial nerves (acoustic and facial nerves).

Subject: Re: Re: Treating leather sofas and chairs
Have been trying something new, for me anyway - placing objects like records, containers of CDs, and ordinary items such as books, magazines, tools, even food, in Large and Jumbo plastic "baggies." I didn't confine this to objects to the listening room. The baggies are treated to some extent, but not extensively - 4 messages via red pen and one or two foils, often just the messages. This procedure has yielded smoother, more detailed, more "real" sound, even though CDs and everything else had already been (relatively) extensively addressed. Results can easily be perceived as more objects are bagged.

Subject: Discussion with a P.W.B. User
It seems to me there are many users of P.W.B. products who hesitate to admit using P.W.B. Treatments.
I had a chat with one who posted about CD treatments in audiogon.
To save some money he makes his own home made version of electret disc and uses all foils he has.
He gave me some information which I am passing on. Music direct in US sells a 5o dollar SID plastic disc. Marigo also sells a CD mat (Black Orpheus) -expensive at 79 dollars (out of stock now). The cheapest mat is the one made by Herbies audio for 16 dollars. He said they all can be 'Creamed'. The plastic Sid disc can be frozen. They are all available in versions (different thickness) suitable for DVD players, drawer loaded CD players and also top loading CD players.
The quantum electro clear parallel filters which uses some type of scalar wave works very well, When used with fluorescent table lamp or to connect a cord less phone, There is a loss of glare similar to using a cream electret.
His major complaints are lack of availability of
(1) Assorted foil pack
(2) lack of users guide at one place with out painfully searching all the news letters and postings.
(3) lack of availability as a package at a discounted price such all the electret ties for speaker cables, Inter connects ETC. at one price. The gold standard treatments may turn away new users as they initial capital needed is at least a couple of thousand dollars. Probably they are suitable for the seniors and veterans of the P.W.B.
Some of his concerns are what will happen to P.W.B. after the pioneers??. Will they be available after few decades in future. I know many will be upset, but something to think about. I use P.W.B. products and some of them work very well for me. I think it is R.G. who mentioned that all products are not created equal and some work better than others. Can a list of such products be posted for the benefit of newcomers?

Subject: Looking through the eyes of person who requested samples
Looking through the eyes of the person who requested Silver Foil sample labels. In my recent discussions with another P.W.B. product user, this is the scenario he described. I agree with him in all.
Of the few people who are fortunate enough to request sample of Rainbow Foils, some people notice perceived changes- some don't. (probably the ones who try harder to hear or the skeptics). They brush off P.W.B.
Casual listeners hear difference in at least 50 % of the CDs. Their interest is aroused.
2 They look at the price list enclosed. Of the 57 products listed they could find information about 11 products in the web site. No information is available on some products even when they search the P.W.B. Forum - Example copper > OK, Aluminium O.K Ladder ties etc. He looks at the prices the copper O.K and aluminium foils costs 150 $ each.
He draws his own conclusions.
3 Some spend their time( a lot of time) read the postings, read at least some news letters, read the information about freezing etc. What do I have to lose? they try it and it works for them. Next question where to begin?
There are 4 posts in the P.W.B forum -- All in this year advising where to begin. Some pursue further and they are happy.
They try few more -- experiment with more products- -maybe Morphic liquid spray, Sol-Electret, few Foils etc. Usually low cost products Then they find these products produce linear, cumulative and at times logarithmic results.
Some stop at this point. Hoping to slowly acquire more later. But Gold Standard treatments- No way, they cannot afford them 350 $ for green cream and 750 $ for clip is a sticker shock for them in these days of poor economy. Some who can afford pursue these gold standards .Some do not want to admit they use P.W.B. products as they fear of being ridiculed. some suggest to their friends.
Some unsolicited suggestions The price list can be grouped into beginners-products & for advanced users etc. At least some information must be made available on all products at P.W.B. web site. All articles suitable for beginner can be made available at one place-with a listing of all those products that work very well. Offer some in groups such as ties for cables, speaker wire, Auto treatments at some advantageous price. We use P.W.B. products, learnt a lot and enjoying music. I am in the process of making my own poor man's version of electret disc. I treated the environment with out using any foils on CD s. forgive me for my lack of writing skills and typos.

What changed?
I remember when I was in High School in 50's My father purchased a mono valve HMV and a Murphy Radio. I enjoyed music very much then. Lost my self in a technically inferior equipment compared to present day equipment. Now things are different. Close to retirement, I have a high end equipment but still the pleasure of enjoying music is lacking .This lack of pleasure or the lack of ability to get lost in music may be one of the reasons why many people suffer from perpetual upgrades. Looking for that magic amplifier, cable etc. and constantly trading and buying new equipment feeling that the answer may be --. But I think the answer may be with in Us. Some simple inexpensive things brought back some joyin listening. freezing -it is the fore most of them. There are few others too. Many times simple things is all that is needed. My Bogden silver inter connects, thin with air dielectric in a simple Teflon tube sounds lot better , cheaper with Eichman plug . (99 $). Few things can not be measured. I can not measure what the Spiratube, freezing or the Cream and Oil do. But, These things make a difference for me. Vansevers website elaborately deals with effects of wood on sound. I tried 30 dollars Olive wood cutting board under the components. How is it different from Maple wood or MDF. I do not Know. But it does make a difference in mid range The change in technology- I do not think --made music more enjoyable. The reason why people enjoy music at late nights than mid day may not be related to Clean power but some thing else.

I couldn't agree more with you on the issue of better organization and completeness of information on the web site. I am firmly in the beginner category having only experimented with the foil. I find it works every time.
Now where do I go? The web site should provide a "path" for progression on use of all of the products for any application; i.e., home, auto, etc.
I will purchase the products, because I believe they work, but I don't know where to start. So, basically, I haven't.

Richard once requested if any one who might have some computer knowledge would perhaps like to make a web page to answer such questions.
In fact, I later thought this would be an interesting project, now in the days of ready packaged software to go back to the old 0.064 Megabyte computer days when it was possible to program your own.
I Actually have an introduction page up and running on my computer. I have been testing out a new Internet server which I am happy with. Mostly the thing I've been lacking lately is time, Been working like a slave to quickly save for an overseas trip which will begin this Monday. I had another few little problem technical details which I have now sorted out. If I can before I leave, I will try and get a preview up and running before I go. Once it is going it will be a fairly simple task to maintain and upgrade the sight. It will still be a few more months before I will have the opportunity to really get stuck into it.
For a beginner for now I would suggest requesting a price list sheet from May and simply try out whatever interests you most. And of course looking at past newsletters may be inspire a certain direction.

Subject: Where to start
I have been a user of P.W.B. products since about 1991 after a visit from Paul Benson the then Editor of Hi-Fi Review, later dismissed for publicising P.W.B. products. I purchased some Cream and Foils as a result of his visit.
Over the succeeding years I have used most of the new products with varying degrees of success, but I must say that the latest foils (Real, Freeze and Inside) have a far superior effect than those that have gone before. The Green Cream added so much more. One of the problems with knowing where to start is that it is difficult to pinpoint how much can be attributed to the cumulative effect of the products. For example has anyone been able to try the Green Cream having not used any P.W.B. products before and how effective would it be? Even now I find difficulty in recognising changes using just one item, such as treating one CD and then playing it, so I can see how difficult it is for beginners. When I started I treatedmy Hi-Fi system first and then the environment and I still use that method. My CD's were last on the agenda.

Subject: Getting Started
Further to my last communication regarding getting started. I feel that it is always better to treat the equipment and the environment before treating CD's etc. The reason for this is that treating CD's will not in my opinion have much effect on any other inputs to your system whereas treating all the Hi-Fi system and others (VCR etc.) will have an effect on the system as a whole. I have my VCR, Sky Digibox, Radio Tuner, CD Player all playing through my Hi-Fi, and by treating all components you have a much greater cumulative effect on them all. As I mentioned before I have been using P.W.B. products for about 12 years and the insides of my Hi-Fi system components are treated with most of the foils, creams, Sol-Electret, Morphic Liquid and also 'clipped'. My CD's have only received treatment over the last couple years and then only with the more expensive foils (Real, Freeze, Inside plus Frosted) and creams.
I hope this may help others and encourage them to get started.

Subject: A reply to Sola and Tverdik re New users information
Dear All
In reply to both John Tverdik, I could not agree more. Our web site should provide a "path" for progression for the use of our devices and techniques. I think V.R. Sola's suggestion of a separate section for 'beginners products' will be the quickest to implement. Our customers are really great. They are prepared to put themselves through hoops to try to understand what we are offering and to struggle to decide what might be the best device for them to purchase next. So, my sincere apologies for making potential customers struggle so much.
I will prepare a 'beginners package' consisting of a pack of Rainbow Foil, a jar of Cream-Electret, half a metre of Spiratube and two Red Ring Ties on crocodile clips and samples of three of the Morphic Message Foils for the inclusive price of 50 UK pounds or 75 US dollars or 75 Euros
Our initial customer base was formed during the late 1980's and early 1990's following reports and articles by various journalists describing their experiences with the early Foils, Cream-Electret and Spiratube and well as with some of the free techniques we gave them. This is what audio customers are used to and like - i.e. hearing what independent, third party users have experienced and this is one of the reasons which made Dr. Richard Graham decide to publish a P.W.B. Newsletter so that descriptions of people's experiences using our devices could be continued.
Then, in the late 1990's, just as I was being introduced to the 'wonderful'? world of computers by our son Graham, Greg Weaver's article on our Rainbow Foil suddenly appeared in the April 1999 issue of the Internet audio magazine "SoundStage", at a time when I had barely mastered some simple intricacies of computers, let alone the Internet. As we had no computer typed descriptions of our earlier products ready for putting onto the Internet, I decided that the quickest information of our earlier products could be made available by putting the back issues of the Newsletters onto our web site. I also decided that with all first orders of a full pack of Rainbow Foil, I would send a small sample of Cream-Electret and with any subsequent order for a full jar of Cream-Electret I would send a few samples of the Morphic Message Foils. This way, new customers would be able to evaluate some of our products without having to purchase them (untried) first.
Our initial advice is for people to 'treat' as many things in the environment as possible, as quickly as possible, and the relatively inexpensive Silver Rainbow Foil and Cream-Electret and Spiratube allow people to do this. The next step is, however, very difficult to introduce because the Red 'x' Pen, the Morphic Message Foils, all the subsequent message labels and foils have to be understood in terms of applying "beneficial messages" - so it is much more of a concept we have to get over first before peoplewill feel confident to try/purchase these products. This is where the benefit comes in of people reading the Newsletters on our web site first, becoming familiar with the concept, becoming familiar with the idea of the importance of language and it's meaning/energy patterns and also with the concept that our devices and techniques do not have an effect on the actual audio signal travelling through the audio system or on the acoustic air pressure waves but on us (human beings).
Regarding our expensive devices such as the Quantum Clip (500 UK pounds) and the Morphic Green Cream (200 UK pounds). Peter was a manufacturer of audio equipment for 30 years so, at the back of his mind, is always the 'manufacturing' process. Peter asks the question of himself "What if a manufacturer of audio equipment was to show an interest in using my techniques ? What do I have to offer?" Peter knows that a manufacturer would only be interested in 'treating' their own amplifier/CD player/speaker/cartridge - that they would not be interested in problems associated with the environment or with other manufacturers' audio equipment - and they would probably not be interested in attaching a large range of different Foil strips to their equipment. So, Peter developed a 'one off' device - a 'programming' device which you can use again and again - and this is the Quantum Clip. But, to reserve this Quantum Clip as a manufacturing device only would be unfair to any of our customers who would wish to have one - so Peter has made it available to anyone who wishes to have one. Similarly with the Morphic Green Cream. As you only need to apply the tiniest amount of the Green Cream to an object for it to have a beneficial effect, then the small jar of Green Cream we supply will 'treat' a large quantity of cartridges/pickup arms/amplifiers/CD players/speakers - and so on. Which is obviously suitable for manufacturers. But, to reserve the remarkable Morphic Green Cream for manufacturers only would be extremely unfair to any of our customers who would also like to use it.
We wish to remind you that as stated on our price list "All the items are available on a guaranteed 21 day refund if they do not give complete satisfaction and are returned to us within the 21 day period."
For the new user there is a FAQ section on our home page which answers most of the initial questions which new users ask. If there are any questions that you feel should be included or any answers that should be expanded upon please let us know.
Kind regards
May Belt.

Subject: I agree, reply to P.W.B.
I agree completely.
Using P.W.B. products is not restricted sticking foils to compact discs, but more - in treating the Living environment. The introductory package as mentioned in P.W.B. reply, includes many of the basic products addresses and educates beginners very well.
Thanks to May!
In the latest news letter John peters (second instalment) shared his expertise and methodology about treating automobiles, spending considerable time in writing about it. (The car has become a pleasant environment to be in. One feels less tired or strain, feel a sense of pleasure in driving etc.)
I trust the opinion of a fellow P.W.B. user than a magazine professional reviewer.
My suggestion( again unsolicited) is to offer them at a group price all , or some of the products he used to achieve significant results. They can be offered as a one time offer till the next news letter or during holiday season. Or perpetually This may lead more people using them acting as a stimulus, sharing their experience in the forum or news letter and hopefully many people will act by "hundredth monkey phenomena"
Same way the stage 2 or 3 colored ties for the speaker wires and audio inter- connects can be made available as a package This avoids the customers trying to figure out what to use, save them some money and more people will be inclined either by the users opinions and/or by the 100th monkey phenomena. who knows today's new beginner may be tomorrow's "Richard Graham "in guiding others

Sorry to have been quiet for so long, but just to add that I have been in discussion with P.W.B. about how we might have a beginners page/site, since it is hard for me to find the time to learn how to build a site. Essentially, it would involve taking the 'New Products' sections from old Newsletters and then putting them into a 'digest' format. I'm sure you will be aware that there is a lot of history to take into account, but it is a start.
But any other contributions would be much appreciated.

Subject: Re: Getting Started
I have some sympathy with this view, and inevitably treat equipment first. My only dilemma is that I have found that treating CDs is treating the environment, and if you have a lot of discs, it really helps. Mind you, you seem to be treating discs to a fairly high level, and what is difficult to ascertain is which Foils/process give the highest return. We could then focus time and money at this level. The other aspect for not focussing too much on equipment is the flux in the market. You may have a very good CD/DVD player, fabulously enhanced, but in a few years you may want SACD/DVD-A/Blu-Ray or the piece may fail in some way. It is an absolute pain to lose some treatments, returning the piece to the manufacturer.

Geoff,
We used to do this some years ago, particularly with the instruction leaflets that came with equipment. The idea was to break the link (in terms of morphic resonance) with all the other pieces of equipment/associations, as if to 'free' your particular piece. It worked well enough, but when the 'Message' Foils came in, and my bag developed holes, I gave up, and just put Foils on the booklets. I have just had a go at this again, and was very pleased as to how the bag really enhanced sound and vision. I placed all Foils and Creams on the bag, and wrote copious messages to great effect.
If more people want to know about this, I could post more detailed instructions.

Subject: Re: Re: Treating leather sofas and chairs
Richard,
I have continued this method of attack - placing various items like CDs, records, books, etc. in treated clear plastic zip-lock bags for the last several weeks and have had increasingly good results here. The thing that drove me to try this in the first place was the impracticality of treating each separate CD to the maximum extent possible (so-called "gold standard"). I figured that if I placed a tray of relatively untreated CDs, for example, in a treated zip-lock bag, that would be a lot better than nothing, at least it would address the issue of treating the CDs to a large extent. The zip-lock bags are considerably stronger than ordinary sandwich "baggies" and can be closed (which might be an advantage). The zip-lock bags are available in a number of sizes, the Jumbo size is just right for records (ten LPs can be placed in one Jumbo zip-lock bag); the Large size is about right for one or two books and written material like audio/video instructions/pamphlets.
This procedure involves use of red x pen to write favorite messages on both sides of the zip-lock bag - for example, 'X=PRESENT TIME, 'X26'X, SAFE HOLE>O.K., G. Kait>O.K. The messages can be written directly on the plastic bag or labels can be applied if you prefer. I add at least one or two P.W.B. Foils (ofdifferent types) per side, the more types the better. As budget permits, the complete set of foils, including all morphic message foils, can be added over time. Apply cream/liquid to both sides of the zip-lock bag, Super-Wipe, then freeze/thaw. The zip-lock bag is now ready to use.
The zip-lock bags can be used to organize/"protect" all manner of household items, not just CDs. Some of the usual suspects are very amenable to this treatment: records, pressurized cans, books/magazines, instruction manuals, photos/photo albums, video tapes, bookshelf speakers, frozen dinners, silverware, tools, spare electron tubes, etc.

There are lots of "missing links" to products not on the price list (What's hollow fibre? Where can I get it?).

Subject: advice to newbies
Hello James,
It was after reading that May Belt Was including a jar of Cream-Electret in a starter kit that I realised That I had not used my jar in earnest for almost two years. I have tended to concentrate my P.W.B. treatments on the home environment at least as much on the hi-fi itself and have had some stunning results along the way. In my hurry to try each new P.W.B. device, the cream somehow got neglected. So, with the luxury of a few days at home, I decided to spend some time going over the house using the cream. I still have hundreds of vinyl LP's as well as at least the same number of CD's and it was those that I treated first and I still can't quite believe the result. I think I wrote somewhere recently that I thought I had reached some sort of "high" as far as P.W.B. was concerned and it would be hard to improve on the sound I now enjoyed. But, not so! Even though some of the discs had been treated in the past, I made a point of doing every single disc before moving on to the next task.
Any household cleaning/polishing products can be treated (I put a tiny amount on the bar code with my finger).
A very fast result may be achieved by treating all the infra red devices within the building such as TV remotes, security devices, the information transfer point on some mobile phones etc. Jus rub a small quantity over the outer case and also on the battery if there is one. The truth is, as I have found out about this cream myself those past few days, is that it can be applied anywhere and to any object you choose and it will have some benefit. Just a word about the treatment of vinyl though. I tend to get a tiny smear on my finger and apply it to the vinyl itself at the edge of the label so that it also gets treated. this may cause a slight staining to some types of label so if you have some collectors items take care. I also treat the outer cover of the LP/CD. The other point is that treating a large collection of CD's or LP's can be about as exciting as sitting watching paint dry so doing it in batches might be a better option. I hope some of this will be of use to you.
Regards,
Kevin Kehoe.

Dear James
For the small Spiratube (6 mm), I found most effective, to cut it in pieces of 6 cm straight line (in rectilinear extension), and the big ones (12 mm), in pieces of about 14 cm length straight line. Place the big Spiratube around the two pipes that enter and exit the water boiler, and if possible, the central water pipe. Place the rest of the 12 mm Spiratube around the pipes that enter and exit the toilet cistern, as well as the water pipe that leads to the handle at the bath. If you have a garden, experiment placing a 12 mm Spiratube around the water pipe that leads to the tap.
12 mm Spiratube around water pipes, tend to make the sound more dynamic (and sometimes, aggressive, especially at the pipes of the central heating), while the 6 mm, around cables, tend to make the sound more rich and bassy (and sometimes, at expense of speed)
Apply Cream Electret at the light bulbs (always just a very, very small portion of Cream), but NOT at the bolts or the electric contacts and NOT at screws. Apply Cream Electret to the wooden slabs of your equipment rack. Apply Cream Electret at the glass part of all the electrical fuses in the house and especially of your equipment (but beware of electric shock!). That would give you the opportunity to clean with some isopropylic alcohol, (even cleaning fluid for windows would do), the electrical contacts of the fuses that sometimes are dirty - and many times are dirty EVEN when your equipment is new. Cream Electret is particularly effective at the fuses.
Check the sound after every new tweak. If the sound becomes overly heavy and rich, or slow, stop applying the cream and wait. Too many tweaks in the same direction, can unbalance the sound. Experiment further.
If you get a sound that really satisfies you, it would be better to stop tweaking. Otherwise, there will be no end to your search - and definitely, there is no end at the P.W.B. path!
Excuse my English - please.

Subject: Newbies/veterans et al
It's been a while since I've posted. Still in the throes of remodelling, but soon some time should be available for really important matters, such as Belting more items around the house and listening to the results.
Kevin, thank you for noting that you've gone beyond the high point you felt you'd reached. It's encouraging to know that sound can continue to improve.
Geoff, as always you give excellent tips. The plastic bags would have the additional effect of keeping dust off things. That is a very big problem out here in the desert.
And Richard continues to be a fountain of information and inspiration. I would be willing to help write up some of the information for beginners and about products, but can't help with site work. My knowledge of software is lacking in that area.
In going over Geoff's recent post, it struck me that perhaps Belt veterans could note frequently-used morphic messages, especially any that seem particularly effective. This could be helpful to beginners and also to those of us who feel neither new nor like veterans. For example, it was interesting to note Geoff's use of SAFE HOLE > O.K.
Speaking of morphic messages, should a capital be used in 'x 26 'x? I realized that in writing it, my x is usually smaller than the numerals 2 and 6. So should the message be 'X 26 'X?
The beginner's pack is a terrific idea. It's so good to hear from new people. It helps to know people are discovering P.W.B. products all the time. Sooner or later, we will have to reach the Hundredth (or is that Thousandth) Monkey level, or rather, the Hundredth/Thousandth Belter. And when that happens - watch out! Electrical engineers will be crying in streets and manufacturers will send freezer stocks soaring. Ah, and think of the sound.

Subject: Re: Advice to newbies?
Thanks, everyone, for the advice on how to start. I noticed in applying the rainbow foil to my environment (This is the only P.W.B. product I've received so far), I could lose some of the qualities gained when I first applied the foil. I had to remove the foil from the computer CPU and monitor. As Andreas says, the sound got "slow," and confused in the soundstage.
I guess I should just wait for the pack to show up so I can experiment with the different products. Can't wait!
Thanks,

Dear Hifi Jimmy
Inside your computer CPU and printer, lie numerous stickers with bar codes, and other labels such as "quality control", "OK". It may seem absurd, and I would not wish you to do something that would destroy your equipment (as to disassemble it and now not how to put all the pieces together!), but the removal of these stickers is more beneficial to the work of the P.W.B. devices, than treating the CPU and printer themselves.
And by the way, do get rid of the bar code stickers from the inside of your refrigerator - at least for aesthetical reasons.
Take notice

I put my CD player in the freezer late last week; currently in defrost mode. I did this after freezing a few of my CDs and noticed a significant difference. It's difficult to listen to the unfrozen CDs now. (Slowly bringing frozen devices back to room temp is vital)
I also froze some interconnects and speaker cables, and two of my power cords. The Absolute PC was noticeably improved; the other (PS Audio Xstream) was undergoing break-in at the time, so I can't pinpoint what made the improvement.

1) P.W.B. will some figure out a way of informing many that they have a new beginners kit available.
I know at least (two) 2 users, due to lack of easily available information, lack of time to read the old news letters, gave up exploring new products.
This beginners kit will encourage many only if they know it is available.
2) Richard Graham will find time to post about- give a list of best products of the 61 or so in the price list. He mentioned once "not all products are created equal. Some are better"
Request Richard Graham to share that information with us.

Subject: Reply to various questions...
My reply to the last few 'postings' will be quite a lengthy reply because many issues have been raised in recent postings and so many things are inter linked.
One observation is quite relevant however and that is the one described by James. This observation is that sometimes P.W.B. devices and techniques do not give the improvements expected in some areas and yet can give quite substantial improvements in other areas. Our recommendation is always (and this has been confirmed by others in various Newsletters) that if something does not give the improvement expected, then try it in another location and if it still does not give the expected beneficial effect then leave it a few days then try it again. This is main reason why we supply such as the two Red Ring Ties attached to crocodile clips within the Beginners Pack. It is to enable people to evaluate the effect of the Red Ring Ties by being able to attach the Red Ring Tie on the clip onto different AC power cables of different items of audio equipment or electronic equipment and to assess, for themselves, which cables they should start attaching Red Ring Ties to permanently. You can also evaluate the effect of beneficial message labels by writing such a label as PEACE AND GOODWILL > O.K. and either just resting the label on top of various items of equipment and listening to the effect or sticking the label just by it's corner onto an item of equipment and listening to the effect. If you do not experience the effect you desired, then try the label in another location.
You see, our devices are 'treated' to provide safe, secure and relaxing energy patterns. At any particular time and in any particular environment, one device may not be perceived to be as effective on a particular piece of equipment as other devices or as effective as it was on other items of equipment but an energy pattern which carries a message meaning 'safe, secure, relaxing' must, always, be O.K. - it cannot be wrong. Just as a greeting to a friend which says "Hello, how nice to see you, how are you ?" must always be good ! It cannot be a wrong greeting.
Perhaps I can use a true story to illustrate further. An editor of a British Hi-Fi magazine had used some of Peter's devices for a few months and when we met him again at a Hi-Fi Show, he said to Peter "Do your devices vary in their effectiveness or does their effectiveness reduce with time. Because I find sometimes that my sound varies, even though I have used your devices." Peter answered "No, our devices do not vary, nor do they change with time but environments change constantly and people change what they do constantly. If you like, we will come to your house and check things out."
We met the editor at his local tube station on his return from work and walked with him to his flat. He was carrying a bunch of LPs which he had either been given by the record distributors or he had brought them home to review. He opened the door to his flat, placed the huge bunch of keys on top of the nearest loudspeaker cabinet, leaned the bunch of LPs against the legs of the coffee table and then went into the kitchen area to put the kettle on. Whilst he was in the kitchen area preparing cups etc., Peter played some music. After a short time, the editor said from the kitchen area "What did you do then Peter ? I heard the sound get better." Peter said "How often do you place the large bunch of keys on top of the loudspeaker cabinet?" The editor replied that sometimes he placed the keys on the loudspeaker cabinet and sometimes he left them in his jacket pocket, which he had hung in the hallway. Peter said that all he had done to improve the sound was to remove the large bunch of keys from the top of the loudspeaker cabinet and place them on the floor.
Next Peter moved the bunch of LPs from their position leaning up against the legs of the coffee table. The editor now asked Peter what he had done as the sound had improved further. Peter asked the editor how often he brought home bunches of LPs and the editor replied - probably about three times a month.
Peter carried on working whilst the editor was still in the kitchen area. When the editor commented that the sound had improved even further, Peter asked the editor how often he left the set of headphones ontop of the amplifier. The editor replied that sometimes he left them on top of the amplifier case and sometimes placed them on the floor. Peter replied that all he (Peter) had done was to remove the headphones from the top of the amplifier. Such things as this went on throughout the evening we were there.
I am in no way challenging what our customers describe nor am I denying them their listening experiences - all I am trying to do is to point out that there are more things affecting the perception of sound than people are generally aware of. People change their behavioural patterns and very rarely do they do things in exactly the same thing way all the time. Environments are also changing constantly. For example:- Whilst carrying out evaluation trials with our devices, a member of your family could enter the room carrying three new CDs., a child could enter carrying a new computer game or electronic toy., the postman may just have delivered a new interconnect lead which had been unpacked and placed on a table between listening tests - and so on. That is why I always recommend that people go back at some later time and try our devices again.
I have described beneficial energy patterns such as 'safe', 'secure', 'relaxing'. Now I will come to the other questions posed recently - the area of beneficial messages. Nature has programmed us (from the earliest of early creatures) to be constantly sensitive to danger energy patterns but evolution also requires us to be sensitive to energy patterns representing 'comfort', 'reassurance' etc. Also through evolution we are programmed to always need to know the location of the nearest 'safe hole', 'safe burrow', 'safe den', 'safe sanctuary'. Geoff Kait is quite correct when he says that the more strips of the different Morphic Message Foils that you can add to a 'treated' plastic bag, the better the effect. All the six different Morphic Message Foils carry a different beneficial message. Each message has been constructed on the computer, reduced in size, then repeated down the full length of the Morphic Message Foil so that any 3 mm strip cut will carry the complete message. The more of the six different Morphic Message Foils you can attach, the better will be the improvements in the sound. There will be a more detailed description of the Morphic Message Foils on the product section on our web page.
Let me now come onto the subject of writing your own beneficial messages. You can begin by writing a simple, general message such as GOOD SOUND > O.K. with the Red 'x' Pen directly onto an item of equipment or onto a label and experiment by attaching the label by it's corner onto an item of equipment. Or, write the words I have described earlier PEACE AND GOODWILL > O.K. on a label, If, for example, you place the instruction booklet of the telephone answering machine into a 'treated' plastic bag ('treated' as described by Geoff Kait) and you write a message label saying TELEPHONE ANSWERING MACHINES > O.K. and attach the label to the plastic bag, the sound will be perceived as better. However, if you know the brand name of the telephone answering machine and (even better) the model number of the machine and you write the label saying (for example) BETACOM BT100 TELEPHONE ANSWERING MACHINE > O.K. then the sound will be perceived as even better !!
Let me illustrate this concept of
'percentage of relaxation versus anxiety' with one of my hypothetical examples.
Imagine you are having a party and you have invited your guests to bring a
friend. A stranger arrives at your door saying he has come to the party. You
are 100% anxious. The stranger explains that he has been invited as the guest
of your brother and had arranged to meet up with him at the party. You are now
10% relaxed but still 90% anxious. Your brother arrives and introduces the
stranger as John Smith. Now you have been formally introduced, you are now 20%
relaxed but still 80% anxious. If, however, your brother introduces the
stranger as John Smith, a new work colleague and new to the town - you are more
relaxed - say now 30% relaxed. If your brother also adds that John Smith, by
coincidence, went to the same college as you had, then you will be even more
relaxed, say now 40% relaxed. The stranger is the same person. You are the same
person but the more you know about the stranger, the more he will be accepted
into
your territory, the more relaxed you will be. In other
words, neither person has changed, it is the relaxation percentage which has
changed !
Back to the subject of writing
your own beneficial labels. You could write a label with the Red 'x' Pen saying
THIS AMPLIFIER PRODUCES GOOD SOUND > O.K. and attach it to your amplifier
and the sound will be perceived as improved. But, if you know the brand name,
and the model number of the amplifier and you write (for example) THIS SONY
SA100 AMPLIFIER PRODUCES GOOD SOUND > O.K. Then the sound will be perceived
as even better. Providing you use universally used and accepted 'good',
'beneficial' words then you should have no
problems. There
have been beneficial energy patterns for thousands of years - long before words
and language evolved. All language and words do is to 'tap into' those existing
energy patterns. The more thewords (and their meaning) have been used, the
greater the Morphic resonance energy pattern. We recommend Rupert Sheldrake's
book "The Presence of the Past" ISBN 0-00-637466-2, for further reading on his
concept of Morphic Resonance,
To answer Gary Lee. We recommend that the x should be in lower case (small) and the dash should always be at the left hand side of the 'x. E.g. 'x 26 'x. The description of the use of 'x 26'x is contained in the article "WHAT A MESS !!!! -- An alternative view of reality" on our web page.
Regarding treating such things as computers and associated printers. If you are anxious about going inside such as the printer, then I would suggest writing a beneficial label with the Red 'x' Pen along the lines of THIS ??????? PRINTER IS ACCEPTED INTO THIS TERRITORY > O.K. and attaching it to the printer case. You will soon realise that everything in the modern environment has to be 'accepted' (somehow) into your territory.
At the same time as Geoff Kait's latest posting appeared on the P.W.B. Chat group last week, describing using a 'treated' plastic bag, the latest edition of the audio trade magazine the British Audio Journal arrived in our letterbox. It contained a long interview with the British audio equipment 'measurer' Paul Miller. Paul Miller is firmly in the 'measurers' camp. The editor of the British Audio Journal, Malcolm Steward, asked Paul the following question.
****************
Malcolm "I guess your chemistry degree helped though when some writers were inviting us to stick certain 'treated' items all over our hi-fi and listening room to improve our perception of the sound."
Paul's answer was as follows :-
Paul. (laughs) "I wouldn't get too preoccupied with the chemistry theme: after all, I've been involved in audio engineering and instrument programming for far longer. Nevertheless, I think the first full technical article I had published in Hi-Fi News was about Peter Belt's treatments. You have to remember that I had yet to establish my technical credentials and that well-established writers in other magazines were going head over heels about this 'phenomenon'. I felt that the situation was escalating from the sublime to the ridiculous, so I took several of the products back to Imperial College and used its facilities to analyse them. Even with the resources of one of the UK's premier scientific institutions, we could find no conventional residual 'fields' surrounding these items..........."
****************
It is now 15 years since Paul Miller did his now infamous article about Peter Belt in the Hi-Fi News but Paul still does not realise how ludicrous his action was of rushing around to the Imperial College, London to 'measure' such as our Foils, Morphic Liquid and Sol-Electret. Paul obviously still firmly believes that the 'measurements' tell all.
It is like Geoff Kait, not living in the USA but living in England, and describing to Paul Miller how to use the 'treated' plastic bag and Paul Miller rushing around to Imperial College, London to 'measure' the plastic bag !! Or to measure Geoff's signature "Geoff Rules > O.K." !!
The more you use our different Foils, Cream, devices and the more you sign your name or initials on objects with the Red 'x' Pen, or mark a line through bar codes with it, or write beneficial messages with it and either attach those beneficial messages to actual equipment or to a 'treated' plastic bag containing CDs etc. and leaflets and instruction booklets, the greater will be the improvements to the perceived sound. But, improvements in the perceived sound means that you are hearing additional information. There is no way that placing instruction booklets inside a 'treated' plastic bag can possibly be having an affect on the audio signal going through the audio equipment or on the acoustic air pressure waves so, where has this additional information come from ? The additional information you can 'hear' must have been there, in the room, all the time !! - you had just not been able to perceive it until.........!. It is this concept which the audio industry just cannot come to terms with. After experience using our devices and techniques, it soon becomes obvious that all audio equipment (whoever manufactured it or however inexpensive it is) is 'handling' far more information that anyone has ever realised.

That was a most enlightening post and one destined for my information archives. I had no idea there was so much flexibility with morphic messages. Also, the idea that all things need to be accepted into the environment is new to me. It seemed obvious once you mentioned it, but it had never occurred to me before. Subject: P.W.B. beginners pack arrives
Received beginner's pack from P.W.B. late last week. Not exactly the best timing, as I had just gotten my amp back from my dealer, upgraded with new input connectors, MIT caps, and input wiring, and was in the process of burning in the components.
So I tried the Cream Electret in my TV room (meaning, my bedroom). Rubbed it on a piece of furniture: no difference. More furniture: no difference. Hmm. I locate the Red Ring Ties. Hey, these are just alligator clips with a small red cable tie on the end! I know what steel sounds like on a power cord, having "ferrited" every PC in my home about 10 years ago. I used garbage bag plastic-and-steel wire twists to keep the ferrites from sliding on the skinniest cords- BTW I also found the ferrites degraded the sound of every component I ferrited, but worked well on non-stereo system appliances. Well, I'll just clamp one end of the TV's power cord: no difference. (I wonder how much postage is back to England?)
Fast forward 36 hours. Amp finally settling down. Cleaner and less grainy than before mods, but also a little remote, detached. Last chance for P.W.B.- I rub some Cream Electret on the shelf holding the amp: What was that? Some kind of difference. Cream a short section of Absolute power cord feeding the CD player: Louder, more dynamic. Touched (I mean just barely touched) the Sakura interconnects with my Cream coated fingertips: Wow. Vivid, more dynamic. Hey, this stuff really works.
Next up, the Red Ring Ties again. On the CD's power cord: Blacker background, images emerge more clearly. Exactly the opposite effect of ferrites- which compresses the dynamics- the Ring Ties make the sound more lively, more interesting.
Spiratube: Blacker backgrounds, more soundstage depth and space (I tried them only on non-stereo appliances).
Various Morphic Foils: Only beginning to play with these, but they are very powerful, and location sensitive.
I've only begun to experiment, but the sound I have is reminiscent of the sound I had many years ago with a SOTA turntable/Fletcher Arm/AQ moving coil cartridge as source, with tube electronics, driving Stax F81s. The emotional content is there, and this running CDs and solid state electronics. Though my speakers today are very nice, the electronics I use are jokes ($US 160 for both CD and amp, used). It may seem silly treating your electric meter and refrigerator with foils and creams, but the results really show the effectiveness of P.W.B. products.
Amazing.

Subject: Beginners pack part 1 - treating telephone
Things one can do with the beginners kit
Part 1 telephones.
Treat refrigerator power cord, light bulbs with Cream Electret ( later one can apply 12 mm diam. Spiratube to the power cord, if in a hurry temporarily wrap the refrigerator power cord with Teflon plumbers tape) Freeze telephone hand set, base unit and all cords, after Creaming, in a treated ziplock bag. Apply Cream Electret to the base of the Telephone Unit. Apply Cream Electret to the batteries. Apply foil in the battery compartment of the telephone. Freeze telephone book (Cream the covers) or any paper we stick with important or emergency Numbers on the doors of the refrigerator or elsewhere. Store the telephone book Creamed and Foiled in a treated zip lock bag. (Thanks to Geoff Kait for this suggestion) or remove the telephone book from your environment (not even in a garage or automobile) to break Morphic linkages. Maybe with a neighbour's in the trash can. (thanks to Geoff Kait for this suggestion) Apply 6 mm diam. Spiratube cut to a suitable length to all the telephone cords. Until one buys the P.W.B. Red 'x' Pen (as it works better) one can write their own Morphic messages with a red Staedtler pen.
Silver standard treatments.
Apply a colored Red Magnadisc to the telephone base set. Use a little Sol-Electret to all electrical contacts of the telephone. Use any Morphic message foils you have. I used the Red 'x' Pen to write beneficial messages on scotch tape, adhesive labels or directly on to the base of unit. I wrote (Z brand) telephone model number then > O.K. Peace prosperity happiness More than > O.K.
Gold standard treatments: Not for me. I am a common man. These basic standard treatments should produce a significant change. I tried them all including on the telephones in my office. P.W.B. treatments can be cumulative, linear or logarithmic. one can perceive results immediately or it may take a day or two.

Subject: Re: Reply to various questions...
As I had hoped to reply earlier than now, I will keep things short, also because I am currently mailing from Austria...
Firstly, it remains almost offensively shocking that language has evolved so intimately with the natural world. It is like 'magic' because these 'incantations' that are written on labels really do work. I use this model, because as with the truths embedded in myth, I suspect those old wizard-types were aware of connections we now dismiss as hokum. Science could however reveal the truth and substance of the phenomenon, and Peter is making a major contribution.
Secondly, and this is where the 'magic' model works again, many will never try to experiment, because it is just too bizarre. Sadly, there are many ways of making the process of writing messages more effective, but how many will even try some of May's suggestions? If you were to, you might start to understand some of the processes that enable Peter's work to effect change in the way it does.
Thirdly, the 'Message' foils do help a great deal, by concentrating the messages in a convenient form, and for those with writers cramp, trying each foil really does help.
Finally, the dynamic nature of the environment is clearly exposed in the anecdote of the Hi-Fi reviewer. Yet how many of us would really believe that the things Peter changed would make a difference. But they do. Some simple things make a big difference, but are not exactly state of the art engineering. Message foils and creams buffer against these effects, and stop us from getting too obsessional, but a combination of tidiness and products really can transform.
I write as someone repentant, as I tend to take much for granted. But having tried the Red pen with some new messages on a portable player, I remain shocked at how much power is literally in our hands. So it's a hundred lines a day now for slackness...

I suddenly remembered an old P.W.B. freebie recently, but wanted to check it out with any one with a sense of history and experiments with cables - Tom Marsden?

Dear Richard
Thanks for this freebie, but I quite don't remember it ! And I know Peter and May since 1989...
Do you mean that if I build myself a simple interconnect with solid core wire, it will sound better if I put two wires for the positive signal and only one for the negative, rather than using the same number of wires (one, or even two) on each side ?
I'd like to hear much more about this, as this is something very interesting to test for everyone among us. I'd like also to say that the "official" P.W.B. cables I got some years ago are NOT made this way... So ?
Help please !!!
Is it possible to ask May and Peter to give us a basic theory, and some advice ?
Thanks Richard

Subject: Re: Wires
Richard, I assume you have in mind `Charge Balancing Circuits `. This was a paper that Peter produced in December 1988. The technique, as I understand it, is that you count the number of metallic ( copper ) cores in a cable and the number layers of insulation over the cable. Add them up to give the total number of "Charge Paths." i.e. If there are 19 copper cores and 2 layers of insulation this gives a uneven number of 21 Charge Paths and this wire should be used for a negative connection. For a positive connection the number should be even. Should you have the situation , say, where the cables are all even numbers - join2 even number cables together in parallel but tie them with a Reef knot at one end only and this produces a cable with negative characteristics. This configuration of course would produce a negative lead with a cross sectional area twice the size of the positive lead. ( Interestingly . Robert Eichmann who manufactures the excellent `Bullet Plug ` connector now advertises a interconnect that has the negative conductor twice the thickness of the positive connector. He claims this produces superior results). It goes deeper in that Peter recommended that a Ribbon cable should be used . For a stereo connection a 4 wire Ribbon would have the 2 positive wires on the inside and the 2 negative wires on the outside. For speaker leads a 4 wire Ribbon would again be used but this time the 2 outer wires would be connected in parallel for the negative connection and the 2 inner wires would be connected in parallel for the positive connection. At the time Peter wrote the paper I did make up some leads and certainly the were superior to what I was using at the time. With many years experience in making up my own interconnects I am convinced that wires should be as short and thin as possible. At present for interconnects I use single strand 0.015 mm silver plated copper for signal and return -for mains leads and speaker leads 7 strand 0.015. Insulation is single layer PTFE. The results are spectacular and do not employ any `Charge Balancing` principles but perhaps it might be time to get out the soldering iron again and revisit these techniques.
Cheers
Tom Marsden.

Subject: The accursed CD-logo again!
Dear fellow combatants
Using the Red-X-pen as an "exterminator" of the various bar-codes on the CD covers, I found the pen, equally impressive (if not even more impressive) when crossing out the Compact Disc logo on the covers.
In nowadays, the Compact Disc logo, appears much more rarely than before, and in smaller dimensions - even on the CD itself. But there are labels that continue to use it: "Naxos" is one of them, with a really HUGE logo. Second they come, the old Harmonia Mundi, Doutsche(?) Grammophone, Hungarotone etc.
Crossing out the logo, I found it to bring changes similar with the Rainbow Foil and to the opposite direction to the crossing of the bar-codes. The latter tends to make the sound richer and smoother, the former brings more excitement and openness.
My question now is as follows: There are two compact disc engravings on every plastic CD case. Does anyone have any idea of terminating their supposed influence on the sound?

Subject: Beginners pack. Part Two.
Beginners pack. Part Two. Treating power cords and power conditioners
All removable power cords can be frozen after applying Cream Electret in a Creamed zip lock bag. These Creamed and Foiled zip lock bags can be used again and again and can be used for storing CDs and DVDs. Please refer to the valuable posting ( July 2003) by Geoff Kait).
"Placing the books, magazines, instructions for TV, CD players, as well as video and audio media in zip lock bags with messages is another way to break the connection that those items are making with similar items everywhere in the world. This could be regarded as a process of breaking the Morphic links as not allowing intruders into the house. There does appear to be a "field" - not RF and not electromagnetic - associated with these Morphic patterns that interfere with our brain/senses. When the Morphic patterns are reduced/broken we see/hear/taste things better. " Thanks Geoff Kait
Also refer to the recent (August 2003) valuable posting by P.W.B. in the message board. Apply Cream Electret to non removable power cords including washing machine, microwave oven, electric fans, vacuum cleaners, HVAC unit, Lamp cords, dish washer, cooking range etc., after cleaning . If one feels comfortable the power plug screws can be removed and the non electric contact parts can be Creamed. Later one can apply Sol-Electret oil Until one gets the 12 mm dia. Spiratube and if one is in a hurry youcan wrap white Teflon plumbers tape spirally. Clean the metal prongs of the connectors with Isopropyl alcohol, de ox or any contact cleaner. Later Sol-Electret oil can be applied. One can apply Foils to the large plastic surfaces of the plugs and on large cords, one can attach Morphic message labels with a red Staedtler pen. Remove all bar codes (only few have them) or cross them out with the Red 'x' Pen. Use and experiment with the various Foils available One pair of Red electret ring ties is available with the beginners kit. Try them out with various power cords as they come with crocodile clips. Whenever one hears an improvement take a note to order later. For me I heard perceivable changes at 3 different locations. Applied Cream Electret to the electronic ballast's of all fluorescent lamps, smoke detectors, garage opener and apply Rainbow Foil. Cream all the cable elevators. Wherever they come in touch with the carpet or run parallel to other cables, I wrapped them with bubble pack and creamed it. In my home I applied 12 cm length of 12 mm diameter Spiratube to ALL power cords. In my situation I needed 2 meters. Also applied to coolant ducts of the refrigerator, HVAC unit. also to the water intakes and out plumbing of the sinks, toilet. Cream Electret will go long way.
Power conditioners.
My power conditioners come with a warning that opening the case voids warranty. They claim they have some photosensitive material in the case and needs to be opened only in a dark room. (audiomagic stealth matrix). The other Vansevers power conditioner says any marks on the screw heads voids warranty. Applied Cream Electret to the bottom of the metal case and to the pilot lamp. Applied Morphic message labels to the front right and rear left corners. The more the merrier. Later one can purchase other Morphic Message Foils, Frosted and Real Foils. Hope they will be available in an intermediate level kit by P.W.B. I froze all power conditioners. The one Power conditioner I like is cheap - costs 39 dollars including shipping on Audiogon, parallel filter which introduces quantum resonance technology (some frequency is introduced), easy to open and Cream inside (only four screws) It's quantum electro clear modules works with all voltages. Improves the TV picture. I also use it with the fluorescent light, TV and Telephone in my listening room. Yes! These P.W.B. treatments are time consuming, But they are well worth the time effort Silver standard. (whatever I have done). I needed 2 meters of 12 mm Spiratube. Ordered and used Frosted Foil, X Foil, Real Foil, and Sol-Electret oil and Red 'x' Pen.. Hope some of them will be available in a intermediate level kit by P.W.B. This way more people may start using P.W.B. treatments as it makes life and decision process easier without reading all the past newsletters. I have not tried the inexpensive ($15) power plug charge barrier. Not much information is available either in the message boards or newsletters. But that is in my next purchase list. The P.W.B. power corrector is expensive at $225 and falls in the gold standard category. I tried the reef knot on telephone cables - and froze them with reef knot. I have not tried them with the rest of the cables. Some of them are very thick. Google search gives illustrated information about a reef knot. With the use of P.W.B. products the sound imaging sweet spot is much larger. One can hear good imaging anywhere in the room--- not necessarily restricted to a small sweet spot. Cleaning and tidying up. Throw away and discard things which we have not used in the last 3 years. Keeping them in zip lock bags with Morphic messages helps a great deal. This is what I am doing now -since I am moving to another town.

I should have added that judicious use of Smart Metal, Sol-Electret, Ties, Spiratube, Liquid and Creams, then Clipping and freezing may have outdated all of this, but then little in the P.W.B. world is ever truly redundant. Hence the Reef Knot still works.
Time will tell whether this is still a useful piece of info.
It will be interesting to hear more from those with beginner's packs.

Richard- Could you explain the reef knot/clip device? As I understand it, it's one length of wire- preferably thin and uninsulated - with one crocodile clip soldered to each end of the length of wire. Is that about right?
Re: Beginner's Pack- Has anyone noticed the Blue Z foil seems to be directional? Placed vertically (perpendicular to horizon) on a component or AC wall plate seems to accentuate the highs; horizontally sounds softer and smoother. Not better or worse, just different.

Subject: new uses for the frozen treated zip-lock bags
New uses for the frozen bags.
The bags that are treated (foiled and creamed) and frozen can be used again for Storing CD's and DVDs
Telephone book
Bills to pay
Small bags can be used to store in your car--- .auto registration, Insurance etc.
Since these zip lock bags come in various sizes one can store cards with magnetic strips such as credit cards, Library cards, Id cards ,social security cards etc.
Now what difference it makes?
Homeostasis -& homeostasis that is all.
Balance and Harmony
Since my refrigerator was not treated initially as it was loaded and I could not move it to gain access to the power cord. I used treated bags. Thanks to Geoff Kait there are many new uses for zip-lock bags can be used for other purposes.

Subject: Summer freeze, makes me feel fine...
And in case you feel there may be too much Jasmine blowing through my mind, I can re-assure you, it is just some valuable P.W.B. techniques. Here we go!
Geoff very helpfully resurrected the issue of putting things in bags, and gaining benefit. The more the bag was treated, with Message Foils, Creams and messages written with the red pen, the better the effect. Very good too for instruction booklets.
Then May suggested these treated ziplock bags might enhance the freezing process. And this is where I got into a little discussion, and then into a little experimentation.
Firstly, as you will all know, I am quite a fan of the Freezing technique, and have a very thoroughly treated freezer (see past postings on this forum). This way I can get considerable benefit into almost anything small enough to fit inside the freezer. But could more be done?
Secondly, could one apply messages in a more effective form? I was aware we had tried some different things in the past, and I felt sure that white labels were just a make-do and not exactly state of the art.
So dealing with the second point first, I managed to get hold of some wonderful, and rather exclusive, Gold Foil strips (about 4cm x 10cm) from P.W.B, and found writing a message on a strip of this, then applying it to anything, provided a noticeable lift. It certainly seemed better than similar product from many years ago, as it is thicker, and frankly rather regal. So if the Queen had a red pen - and I can't say that she doesn't... - this would be suitable for her signature!
Back to the bags: I found some large ziplock bags at a local stationer, with a nice thick plastic as I wanted something durable. I then applied a strip of each message foil, up to the Freeze Effect Foil, plus Grey Clip film, and the Clear Film to both sides of the bag. I then added about 5 messages written onto theGold Foil - mainly non-product ones, as I wanted to freeze a range of things - and sprayed, creamed and Green Creamed the bag. The final treatment was of course a 'Clipping'.
I then tried a few previously treated CDs and mains leads in the bag, and there was a very noticeable improvement - mainly in the areas of sweetness and detail. The sound of these discs was phenomenally detailed, yet full of honeyed tones and melodies, and rather close to live music.
Then disaster struck. When frozen the plastic became rather brittle and a very nasty tear occurred, and this was all the more alarming for having stuck precious foils on it, which I could hardly recycle.
I asked if Peter could come up with a Magnadisc or equivalent, that gave us most of the benefit of this approach, but could transfer easily.
Peter instead suggested a rather different technique that I believe is a real winner.
Instead of putting the Foils etc. on the outside of the bag, he suggested applying them to a piece of clear plastic, which is then placed INSIDE the bag. This could then be put again and again inside the bag, with a much lower risk of losing Foils. Peter suggested the acetate material often used for Overhead Projector transparencies, which can be obtained from most good stationers.
Cut into suitable strips this material is indeed excellent, and one can start to make multiple 'devices' for any ziplock back, not just for the freezer. It works well for all of those other things that Geoff and others have described.
Do try a bit of that Gold Foil though.

I just came across an interesting site about a Japanese scientist who experimented with messages stuck on bottles of water. He then photographed the water crystals; different messages produced totally different crystals. Nice link with our morphic messages. Different kinds of music also shape different crystal forms.

Subject: Unbalanced sound
Just received the October edition of Hi-Fi News. I always enjoy reading the system set up section to see what component choices people make. What caught my eye was on page 71 the owner of this months system states all the sound appeared to come out of the left channel only. This would be the case for any equipment, any room and for any system.
The interviewee could find no reason why this was happening. I too have suffered the same problem where the majority of the musical information coming out of the left channel only. I even adjusted balance to boost the right but there appeared to be greater quality from the left than the right. All imaging information would come from the left channel.
A change of address and listening room made little difference. I was starting to think it was something to do with my hearing! Then one day through the P.W.B. newsletters I found the solution. I wrote the x 26 x message on all mirrors in the house and torched them for good measure. This had a dramatic effect of balancing up the channels, with the right channel literally coming alive.
Now both channels are balanced with equal information coming from left and right. I wonder if anyone else has had similar experiences and if anyone is having difficulties as I was then this could be a worthwhile solution. I believe these experiences are good evidence that the environment plays an important part on our listening experiences.

Freezer trick: if one has already turned the thermostat for the freezer section all the way to the Coldest setting, you can obtain an additional 10 degrees (Fahrenheit) lower temperature in the freezer by turning the thermostat for the main section of the refrigerator to the Coldest setting. Admittedly, there is some debate concerning temperature vs effectiveness/longevity, but it probably can't hurt to run the freezer at the lowest possible temperature.

Subject: Re: Unbalanced sound
Hi Steve,
I definitely had/have similar experiences; I even played my set for a couple of years with the channels reversed! Did you have that with all kinds of music? Since I play mostly classical music there could also be an explanation for this phenomenon in that in an orchestra, or string quartet for that matter, the high voices are on the left and the lower ones (cello, bass) generally on the right, and higher tones give more definition and sense of location than lower ones. Even if they put the second violins on the right, they generally play at a lower pitch and, maybe even more important, they play with the sound board turned away from the audience/microphones, contrary to the first violins on the left who tilt their instruments so they resonate directly towards the listener. Anyway, this has bothered me regularly too, although not so much in jazz, or wind instruments. As soon as I read your suggestion I red-x-penned all the mirrors in the house, and did indeed find and improvement - thanks! - although I can't say the channels are totally balanced in information yet. Anyone have any more suggestions? I already tried morphic messages on the right side and morphic spray on the windows there. They both helped a bit.

Rende, try laying your mirrors flat. This simple technique can have a surprising effect on perceived sound quality. The thought crosses my mind whether this has anything to do with the evolution of the prehistoric brain millions of years ago ( which is still part of all of us ) when the only reflecting mirror surfaces would be Lakes etc. which of course are all flat. A vertical reflecting surface to such a primitive brain is going to be very confusing and alarming and could be still having an effect on us.

Subject: Bookmark this!
During my recent description of how to freeze items without tears (not the products of your lachrymal ducts, but ruptures to the bag containing CDs etc.) I described applying Foils and messages to a strip of clear plastic/acetate. When finished, this item rather resembles a bookmark, and when placed inside a Ziplock bag, enhances the freezing process etc. to a considerable degree. Of course this can then move, and is less prone to tears, being inside the bag.
I then wondered what would happen if a second piece/bookmark were placed inside the freezer compartment, outside of the bag. Peter thought it might help, but suggested I try listening to a piece of music, before and after inserting the bookmark in to the freezer.
I guess we all get rather blase, and my freezer has had A LOT of treatment, but I was knocked sideways by the effect of the bookmark. Do you ever get the feeling that there is no end to digital hash? Every treatment seems to take back another layer, and one is left reeling by how natural the sound is. This was a good one though.
So I started wondering.
I am a big fan of the 'Room Device' which deals with all objects in the room - at least to some degree. All of my CDs and DVD's are in a cupboard in the room next to the music system. What would happen if I put a bookmark (and I had made five, just in case...) in that cupboard?
Betcha by golly wow! What an improvement!
Another cupboard full of wires and things - wow!
I wouldn't want to suggest that this device was as good as Peter's (although it might be ...) but I would think putting one in each room and/or significant cupboard is my current aim.
I can only suggest to you that you get some message Foils, and Gold Foil for messages, to try this at home yourself. And just think how good the next batch of light bulbs are gonna be in the freezer!
By the way, I currently take no mood altering substance (prescribed or other) apart from appealing New Zealand Sauvignons, to account for this, so draw your own conclusions.
Wow!

Subject: Re: unbalanced sound. Mirrors
For the record ; I don't have any mirrors in my listening room. Obviously there are practical problems where mirrors are in everyday use and where they are screw fixed to furniture etc. In my house the mirrors in bedrooms and bathroom, where possible, are left in a horizontal position. A shaving mirror in the bathroom will ,I am convinced, have an effect on the sound in my listening room below. In my hallway there is a large hallstand with three mirror sliding doors ( a D.I.Y. job I did many years ago before the days of P.W.B. ) I plan to restyle this cabinet sometime ( sometime? ) But meanwhile behind every mirror door has been placed a Gold Label that P.W.B. produce to alleviate the problem effects of mirrors. It goes without saying that I have got rid of any unnecessary mirrors. Incidentally, there are strange effects with mirrors that even Richard Feynman the great Physicist couldn't explain. His book ` Q E D The Strange Theory of Light and Matter` makes good reading.

Subject: Terrible Sound! What can I do?
Hi all,
I just discovered P.W.B.'s products and ideas a couple of days ago and I think this might be a better solution to my audio problems than anything I've seen yet.
Let me explain my situation. I recently moved in with my fiancée and as usual, there is no space for a dedicated listening room. My stereo system landed up in the basement. The problem is that it sounds terrible down there. I have very nearly given up listening to music at home. The funny thing is that the room acoustics and the sound coming from the speakers aren't that bad, it's just that I can't stand listening down there. Even when I re-arrange the system to make big improvements in the sound, I still don't enjoy it. If I try to analyze what bothers me about the sound, I can't really say that there's anything terribly wrong with it. But after five minutes of listening to music down there, me and everyone else just wants to go do something else.
To give some background on the room itself: The basement is about 30' by 30' with a low suspension ceiling at about 7'. The lighting is all fluorescent. There is a large staircase/closet in the center of the room. Half of the space is occupied by my home theatre, and the other half is storage and the stereo system. The half of the basement with the stereo also contains the hot water heater, furnace, sump pump and dehumidifier. My normal listening position is right in front of a wall covered with shelves of junk, and the cat litter boxes (it just gets worse and worse). I don't have a chair down there, so I usually just sit on a foot stool.
Does anyone have any experience treating such a hostile environment? What treatments would you recommend to make this a friendlier energy situation? I haven't tried any of the P.W.B. treatments yet, but I'm thinking that this situation is well beyond what a piece of rainbow foil on a CD is going to fix. I'd like to hear people's ideas of what the most important things to treat would be and what you would use. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill

Subject: Re Unbalanced sound.
A reply to Stephen Paines 09/09/03
Dear All
Stephen's description of his experiences with unbalanced sound has triggered deep memories of many of Peter's experiences. Peter manufactured loudspeakers (moving coil speakers, low mass diaphragm electrostatic speakers and orthodynamic speakers from the early 1960s to 1981 - working completely within conventional electronic and acoustic theories. At various times he also had the same problem of unbalanced sound, whether the sound was left hand dominant or right hand dominant - it did not make any sense - the sound should not have been one sided ! No matter what he did with the acoustics of the room, to the speaker cabinet, to the shape of the cabinet, to the positioning of the speakers in the room or all manner of other things, the problem would still remain. He also experienced similar problems when he attended Hi-Fi Shows, either as an exhibitor or as a spectator. Also, like Rende, he often tried changing the phase of the speakers - he even found that he had to change the phase whilst playing a single disc, with a few tracks needing the speakers to be in phase whilst other tracks required the speakers to be out of phase, to get any coherence in the sound. It was not until 1981 when he exhibited his remarkable actively driven, State of the Art, Orthodynamic Tower speaker system that matters came to a head. Even though everyone kept telling him that he had the best sound at the Show, Peter was disappointed in the sound his system produced because it had sounded so much better at home. But, Peter refused to go along with the conventional explanation which is usually put forward for the poor sound at Hi-Fi Shows i.e. room acoustics. On returning home, he made the decision that there was no point in immediately building any more of these Tower systems, crating them up to send to various retailers or overseas agents if he could not guarantee that they would sound good wherever they went. Peter decided to investigate the problem more thoroughly, believing that it could probably take him around six months. 22 years later he is still making remarkable discoveries !!!
The story has been told a few times so I will not repeat it in full again. Most people are aware that it was when, during conducting a series of listening experiments, Peter did something quite unusual ( applying a particular chemical to the surface of a coffee table, to a central heating radiator, to the wall lights, to a piano in the corner of the room, to a brick fireplace and so on) that he suddenly had the best sound he had ever had in his life. Peter was devastated. You would think he would be delighted but no, he was devastated. By the year 1981, he had been in the audio industry for 30 years, firstly as an audio equipment retailer and then as an audio equipment manufacturer and had tried every which way in his struggle to get good sound. Suddenly his belief structure was seriously challenged. This devastated him. But, having just experienced such as a chemical applied to non audio objects giving him the best sound he had ever had in his life, he could no longer go back to the old belief structure - he had to investigate the new results.
Perhaps I can use Stephen Paines now as an example. I hope he will not mind. Stephen has also experienced the problem of unbalanced sound. Changing listening rooms, changing the position of speakers - all following conventional acoustic theory - did not help. But, writing a message on the mirror gave him the sound he had been searching for - balanced sound. This experience must have challenged his existing belief structure i.e. that the particular recording had been to blame for his problems, that the room had been to blame for his problems, that the positioning of the speakers had been to blame or even, as he says, he was beginning to blame his own hearing. But, Stephen must now find that he cannot go back to the old belief structure. It is not possible. He has, in no way, changed the way the music was recorded, nor changed the room, nor changed the position of the speakers, nor done anything to correct his actual hearing mechanism - no, all he did was to write a message on a mirror ! So, having had that experience and being an intelligent person, he now, surely, cannot go back to the old belief structure. This was the point which Peter reached 20 years ago. He had to struggle to try to work out new explanations because the old conventional explanations were no longer valid.
The particular example I described in the talk I gave in 1998 was how one can blame harsh aggressive sound on a particular 'bright' cartridge, or on a particular 'hard sounding' tweeter and one could have been blaming these things over a period of, maybe, 20 years. Then, one day, you 'treat' non audio things in the listening room, in the kitchen, in the study, in the bedroom and, suddenly, you no longer have harsh aggressive sound, instead you now have shimmering, open treble. But, you have not changed the particular cartridge, you have not changed the particular tweeter and yet you have lost the harsh aggressiveness of the sound. Which means that the old belief structure is no longer valid - that there is something else going on - which means that, if you are involved in audio and in particular if you are a 'professional in audio', then you have to investigate this whole area seriously.
When a considerable number of members of the audio industry - so called 'professionals in audio' have, over a number of years, have had many of Peter's techniques and devices demonstrated repeatedly to them and have experienced the significant improvements in the sound, how is it that they can shrink back to the old belief structures, within the blink of an eye, as though nothing has happened ? What is it they are terrified of ? Surely they cannot be terrified of having good sound so what is it that is frightening them ? Could it be that they realise that they would have to reassess their existing belief structures - the very ones on which so many of them have built their reputations?
In an earlier 'posting' I referred to a recent article in the British Audio Journal where Malcolm Steward interviewed the equipment reviewer and 'measurer' Paul Miller. If I can, I will try to write up the story of our experiences with Paul Miller for the next Newsletter.
In the infamous article which Paul Miller wrote for Hi-Fi News (March 1988) Paul describes how he, whilst carrying out a review of some of Peter's devices, dissolved the layer of black ink (on our original Black Foils) and then 'measured' the remaining foil with a gold-leaf electroscope !! and could not 'measure' anything. It is like Stephen demonstrating to Paul Miller the effect on the sound of writing 'x 26 'x with the Red 'x' Pen on the mirror and Paul scraping the ink off the mirror and rushing round to Imperial College, London to 'measure' the ink residue - or to 'measure' the mirror !!
The freezing technique is a good example of most of the 'professionals in audio' hiding their head in the sand. In the late 1980s, as a 'freebie', Peter introduced the simple technique of using a domestic deep freezer to experiment with freezing various things (CDs, cables, audio tapes etc.) in order to obtain improvements in the sound. The concept of freezing using the lower cryogenic temperatures was introduced to a mass reading audience by Robert Harley in his article published in the American magazine Stereophile in October 1990. It is now year 2003 !!! Just what have the 'professionals in audio' done about this subject ?
To all of our customers who have experienced improvements in their sound by experimenting with the 'freezing technique, just imagine what the equipment they may have purchased in the period 1990 to 2003 would have sounded like if it had been through the freezing process prior to them purchasing it.

Subject: Red 'x' Pen.
Dear All
I found the latest 'postings' on the writing of messages etc. extremely interesting as I am an enthusiastic user of the Red 'x' Pen. I want to add a word of thanks to the home crew there at P.W.B. and to the far-flung gang of audiophiles who conduct their own trials and report on them to the Newsletters. Hints derived from their experiences - for example, on duping discs - have proved their value again and again. I'm entirely too lazy to be that rigorous. Since I determined to my satisfaction how well the Belt stuff works, I've dispensed with the tests and just used the products. Oh, occasionally, it takes some fooling around to figure where to use a device. It took me a little experimenting before I found that the refrigerator was the best place for the Power Corrector. Mostly I just use and enjoy. I've yet to send anything back. I've mentioned it in another post, but it bears repeating. I've found the devices wonderfully (really!) helpful in my tennis. This year I bought a new racket. Aside from the fact that even graphite composite can get fatigued after years of use, the technology advances steadily; and every five years or so, the gains in playability make it worth the trouble of learning to hit with a different racket. For the first time since I used an all-wood Dunlop Maxply my racket is strung with gut. I know gut has better feel, but Lord, a thoroughly Belted racket is practically clairvoyant. I've never been able to place the ball like this. The "Inside Label" under the grip was the Belt difference between this racket and the last. I'm inclined to think it was a big difference. And disinclined to remove it, lowering the level of my game, to find out. Audio I know is the P.W.B. business, but I wonder if they've ever considered athletic equipment. They could probably get banned at Wimbledon. I've found May's articles in the Newsletters and the online printoff's fascinating. Particularly interesting to me were the accounts of Peter's processes in developing his products - the intuition and extra-sensory senses involved in making and exploring a discovery. It's probably too little noted how scientists and engineers proceed like artists, particularly when doing genuinely new work. Maybe it's too little noted as well how artists proceed like scientists, experimenting with what works and what doesn't. Human creativity really is a marvel. I think it does us good to marvel at it from time to time. The strangeness of the Belt products often gives me a fresh take on just how strange we are. Plus they help my tennis.

Subject: Re: Unbalanced sound
Dear Rende,
Wonderful cartooning situation, will see what I can do. While I am on, I must say how pleased I am with the results obtained after following some of the recent postings. Regarding self-sealing clear plastic bags. Along with those suggestions, I have now tried the method described by Richard Graham of using the Red "X" Pen to print messages on both sides of clear acetate sheet. Also attaching what foils I had available before inserting it into the bag with what ever it is you wish to isolate. I have tried it with everything from equipment manuals to watches and portable CD players and sound just keeps getting better. I have now had a chance to try the Gold Message Sheet mentioned by Richard and it works like magic. I have only used it to write messages like "Arcam Model CD 62 > O.K." and attaching it directly to the equipment concerned. I have yet to try it in conjunction with the plastic bags. The entire sheet is now used up with a large number of household items labelled in this fashion. It is remarkable how the sound seems to have grown in apparent loudness and depth, it kind of reminds me of the first time I used The Message Foils. Has anyone yet tried the Gold Message Sheet with plastic bags? When I receive some more I intend to write product specific messages and attach to the acetate sheets within each bag(which I have left large enough to take further Foils and messages) and see what results. As you might guess I'm currently going through another P.W.B. "High".

Subject: Calling all morphic messages
Since morphic messages written with the red 'x' pen can be so valuable, I'd be interested in finding out what messages are most valuable to other "Belters" and what equipment/objects they are written on. Of course, I put the 'x 26 'x on all CD's along with (my signature) > O.K., as many must do. What others do you find useful? Another question: do you find any difference in writing directly on an object or in writing it on message film and then applying it?
Also, could I find out the best treatment for a water heater. Since I intend to send an order to P.W.B. soon, I wanted to know what to order, if something isn't currently in my stock of P.W.B. treatments.
Thank you all very much.

Subject: Reflecting on sound
While the posts on mirrors were interesting, it didn't register until I started listening tonight that the left channel was usually the most prominent one, especially on classical recordings. With jazz and pop recordings things were usually pretty balanced. So I double-checked the posts and went into the 2nd bathroom (the only fully functional bathroom currently), sprayed the two mirrors there with Morphic Spray and put 'x 26 'x on both of them. Also, two mirrors that had been stashed in that room during the (almost endless) remodelling were moved out to the storage room after getting the 'x message written on them.
Then a second listening took place. Amazing. The sound was more balanced. I was listening to some of Gershwin's Lullaby and the string basses on the right were so much stronger that it was a tad distracting at first, although I liked the better balance. On some jazz recordings the sound wasn't that much different in terms of balance but somehow the recordings were livelier and more interesting.
Thanks to all for dealing with that subject. And that brings up the need for some advice. In the main bathroom, which is in the final remodelling stages, the old mirror was taken down. Being practical, a mirror is almost unavoidable in a bathroom. But I have been deciding what size to put in, since the old one is being replaced. The largest size possible would make the room seem bigger, of course. But would a larger mirror proportionally interfere with the sound? Would it be better to get the smallest mirror that's practical?
Also, in the living room/listening room, the right side has four large windows that almost act as mirrors. Does that have the same effect as a regular silvered mirror? If so, I'll work on treating them more extensively with the P.W.B. products. Too bad they can't be frozen.
Thanks for the advice and the valuable tip. Though mirrors had been mentioned in other P.W.B. notes and literature, this time really caught my attention. Funny how that works.

Freezing time
Animals and plants do not think about future except storing food instinctively for winter months. Planning and worrying about future are supposedly exclusive human traits. Live as if you are going to dye tomorrow is some thing some people wrote about. Living moment by moment is itself a form of meditation.
One recommended P.W.B. treatment. is freezing a watch.
I tried it. The battery for the wrist watch (3 dollar Kids watch ) died in a week. These watch batteries slightly expensive and a pain to replace a small AAA battery operated cheap clock from the dollar stores, lasts longer, batteries are easy to replace and easy to treat with Foils and Sol-Electret and Morphic fluid and keeping it in a freezer bag.
I added some time related morphic messages such as X > PRESENT TIME and FUTURE > O.K. (wrote them on gold message foils) It does some thing, I can not define what it is as I have done other P.W.B. treatments simultaneously. Any comments and other users experiences to share?

Subject: Mirrors
I can recall a time some years ago when imaging was but one of many irritating problems I suffered when listening to music on my system. Others included a need, every now and then, to mess around with turntable supports, speaker stands and generally tinker with anything that I thought might improve the sound. Those "improvements" would not last long however, and soon yet another failing would reveal itself and off I would go again. It was only as I gradually stepped up my use of P.W.B. products, including treatments of all the mirrors, that I found my restless listening began to subside. The imaging(which I was putting down to room acoustics) improved along with every other aspect of recorded sound. Mirrors it seems, are just one of many domestic intrusions into our ability to enjoy sound and vision. My experience over the years of using P.W.B. treatments is that all the devices add to the relieving of "listening strain" and almost without knowing it, the urge to fiddle about with room furniture and the Hi-Fi system, ebbs away.

Subject: Re: Calling all morphic messages
Hi Gary,
I've recently had some good results with the red 'x' pen on CD's by writing:' perfect sound > O.K. ' and - depending on the composer- ' Beethoven > O.K. '. A good example of this is the recording I made on my CD-recorder of an EMI CD with Britten's violin concerto. It refused to record it in the normal (digital) way because it had been equipped with copy proof. So I connected the recorder to the CD player through the analogue sockets. This is supposed to give worse results because of the extra rehashing of the signal by the recorder's converter. After the messages, two strips of rainbow foil and cream electret (maybe I also put Morphic Spray on the underside - I don't remember) the sound of the copy was much superior to the original. I wonder whether part of the success can be attributed to the filtering out of the copy proof digital information on the original, which I'm sure upsets the error correcting in the CD-player.
Concerning the unbalanced sound, I did some experimenting last weekend and found that placing the mirrors horizontally didn't make any difference in my situation. I even had my wife put them up again in the other room while I was listening. I did end up with a beautifully balanced sound in the end by a couple of other 'tricks' though. Besides writing the 'x 26 'x and Morphic Spray on the mirrors I found that I had an unused TV cable connection behind the right speaker, which I foiled, messaged and creamed. Another improvement came through just placing my plastic bag with rainbow foil on the right side of the listening area instead of the left, where I usually keep it. The final nudge to the right came through taking out the spikes of my REL Strata and putting a piece of white cardboard under one of the feet, and cream electret on the underside . Now I'll take some time to enjoy the music again after having had fun with the tweaking.
Best regards,
Rende Zoutewelle.

Subject: Rende: clarification, please
Your messages, Rende, are interesting and seem worth trying. Just to be sure I understand, in your post you put this mark ['] before the words - perfect sound > O.K. - and after. I call that mark the prime because it reminds me of the prime sign in math. On the keyboard, of course, it's an apostrophe. Either way, it's the same on the keyboard as the mark in the 'x 26 'x message. Is that mark what you mean to use? Or were the marks simply a way of enclosing the message: perfect sound > O.K.? Same thing with the composer message (which seems very interesting).
Hope my question is clear. Thanks for the tip.

Gary, I'm sorry about the unclarity; in this case I used the signs as apostrophes, so I did not write them on the CD. I wrote: perfect sound > O.K. I tried it again last night with an older Vollenweider CD, also writing: Vollenweider > O.K. The results were quite impressive. I'm curious whether you have a similar experience.

Dear Gary
About the water heater: Cream electret on the surface and on the bulb, Sol-Electret on the screws. One freeze effect foil is obligatory and you can also try a real foil. Spiratubes at the water pipes are obligatory also.
As for messages, I have, very recently, had some very interesting experiences treating some old Mission 780se loudspeakers:
1) > O.K. at the production number at the back, and at the Mission labels at the x-overs, the midbass driver and the tweeter
2) BODY > O.K. with SPEED > O.K. plus DEPTH > O.K. on the midbass driver, gave punch without sacrifices on depth. PURE > O.K. made the sound brighter and leaner (monitor like). I did not like the latter on this small loudspeaker, so it went off and the sound became warmer again. Then, I tried FLOW > O.K. Timing and detail was increased, and the "rythmic gaps" at the musical pieces were filled with detail and became rythmically comprehensible. FLOW > O.K. also improved the picture of the dvd at my laptop.
3) SOUL > O.K. and CLEAR > O.K. on the back of the magnet of the tweeter, gave depth and some smoothness to the treble.
I would be grateful, to everyone who would try the same experiments and share his own experience. Am I getting nuts?

Subject: Spelling morphic messages
You bring up an interesting point, Geoff, about spelling. It would seem to me that spelling is important in writing morphic messages. The essence of language is the tacit agreement of sound and symbols. Therefore, wouldn't it be true that "suond" does not have the same morphic resonance that "sound" does? How many times has "suond" been written, as compared to "sound"? We are able to recognize "suond" only because of our familiarity with "sound", which carries the greatest morphic resonance. Correct?
It will be interesting to see what others have to say about this, because I have not yet read the work of Rupert Sheldrake, so my background is limited.
ps Is the last message "INTRUDER > O.K"? I'm afraid I need more than the first and last letter.

Intruders:- Some intruders that cause stress and uncomfortable feeling are the bills we receive in the mail to (utility bills, credit card bills or whatever). I keep them in a frozen treated bag with messages and foils. Few people said that the free Internet browser discs, we receive in the mail with bar codes have a good deal of negative energy. Even striking them with Red x pen is not good enough and discarding them is the only way.
The mirrors can be custom cut to any size. They not expensive to get them from any glass shops. The Handy man who helped in P.W.B. treating my home and my friends house, made his own morphic messages "LORD IS MY SHEPHERD, I SHALL NOT WANT." On our listening chairs and beds We wrote messages on gold foils "HAPPINESS, PEACE COMFORT HAS PRIORITY' My friends daughter opposed when I suggested "Sound has priority"
I THINK THERE IS NO ONE WAY. They all work. Intent and feeling when these messages are written is equally important. Please feel free to disagree with me.

I'm sorry to have missed much of the mirrors discussion, and certainly remember loathing them in the past, but like Kevin, see them as part of that ugly jigsaw that is our contemporary home-life. Indeed, for many years I was more troubled by window glass, of which we have much more, but I think more recent treatments turn the tide a bit. Indeed a mirror, with Foils, Creams and messages on the silvered surface, and a super-wipe on the front can be a thing of great beauty, and certainly helps the sound. I haven't tested to see whether the treatments reduce 'harm' as it were, or the mirror becomes a 'device' that enhances the sound. They certainly can enhance the lighting. But I think Kevin's point is important, for whatever the specific problems of any object, the treatment of other things helps. Once, I spent long, and perhaps dangerous hours trying to fit Foils to the insides of equipment. I don't do that now, and yet feel with advances in techniques I do get the best sound ever. I have no doubt that Peter's work is improving in such a way that one can hardly bear to wait for what might be coming. But even without such things, the current Clip and Tweezers are really remarkable when one gets to grips with everything in the home. Still, I really applaud all this experimentation which I have less time for now, and you have certainly helped me get a bit of writers cramp.

John,
The point I wish to make is that you may get just as good results through other means. It is very difficult to find the space in some units, like your car unit, and some are very hard to open. Whilst you would get some benefit, have you:
1. Super-wiped and put Creams on all windows?
2. Put a strip of Foil, Creams, Messages on all doors, and other accessible panels.
3. Put Creams, Clipped, the put Sol-Electret on all fuses?
And this is just to start.
You can put photos of your car in the freezer, Clip much of the engine, put one drop of Sol-Electret in the oil etc. etc.
Similarly, adding Labels and say a Violet Magnadisc to the outside of the CD Unit case is very effective.
And Spiratube! Where can't you put it? The car has so many wires!
I am pretty sure that combinations of the above would be at least as good as blowing the warranty and potentially causing damage to your unit, and as I often go on, it's just important to keep it in one's mind to treat the whole environment.
And then your car system blows your mind!

There were rumours - oh yes! - and hints, of something that was really good, but when it would emerge, who knew? I knew that Peter and May were having a late break, and pressed them for as much info as possible before they went, and then resigned myself into thinking I might hear something perhaps late November. I was more than pleased with the sound I was getting anyway.
Then out of the blue they came. Violet cream, Copper and Aluminium Foils, and a Clip/Tie device for cables. They're not cheap, and may not be for everyone. I've only applied a few strips so far as the leap in effect is really frightening, and the clean direct sound just...
I am really lost for words, and need more experience. But this is stuff I'm not sure I want to overdo, as the immediate contact with the music it affords might lead down a wrong path.
Both my wife and I are having a bit of a Beethoven phase at the moment, including reading about this extraordinary, tortured man's life. It is clear that at that time, it was believed music could and should change the world.
These new products I think show one how it could happen. I'll stop gushing, and urge anyone interested to contact those at P.W.B.

Subject: words
Hi everyone.
Peter and I are back from our late summer holiday and I see that there have been some interesting 'postings' in our absence.
Gary is correct - the spelling of words is important. He is, however, also correct that if we see a word misspelt as the example he gives i.e. "Suond", the misspelt word still gives us enough information for us to identify the word and it's meaning and, in writing it, you will still be able to obtain some beneficial effect. But, if you spell the word correctly i.e. "Sound", then the beneficial effect will be greater. Gary is correct in his interpretation that the strength of the morphic resonance will be stronger with the word spelt correctly. Now, regarding writing beneficial words in different languages. Many words such as"GOOD", "BETTER", "EXCELLENT" have the same universal usage and meaning in whatever language they are written in.

May gave some intriguing information when she said that a word misspelled but still easily identifiable will have some beneficial effect. What occurs to me is that some of this might leak over into the realm of the mind, though I patently reject any notion of P.W.B. products having a placebo effect. In other words, it is the mind that must interpret "suond" as really meaning "sound". Isn't that some indication of a person's wholistic involvement with sound? Maybe everyone else has realized that and I'm just a bit behind. Just wondered what others might think.

I think you are right, but I have a couple of additional observations. We have all looked at a word that is spelled correctly and still not had it "appear" correct. What happens then? The mind is interpreting differently than it normally would.
Also, words used in context. As in your message where sound is misspelled suond. If you didn't have the word in context so that you immediately knew what it should be, would your mind immediately make the "correction", or, would the entire effect be lost because your mind is not making the adjustment?

As many of you know, I am intrigued by experiments that might show how much one can change things, or even how extraordinary the process is. I have been thinking about two phenomena which are leading to a curious suggestion (audience participation).
Firstly, I remain quite shocked as to how effective those 'bookmarks' have been.
Secondly, the manner in which changes at P.W.B. affect my sound (invariably for the better).
So for all you Clip users, I wonder what would happen if we all Clipped say ten 'virgin' items in the world, at the same time. We could listen to a piece before, then go off for no more than thirty minutes (referenced to GMT), and then listen again. Not blind, but interesting.
Any thoughts?

Those using a Windows operating system can convert to GMT very easily using the time/date that runs in the lower right corner of the screen. Let us know the details. About the P.W.B. bookmarks, I remember reading about them but can't recall what day you posted that info. Can you tell me so I can reread it? I would like to give them a try. I seem to remember that foils are put on strips of plastic. Peter recommended the kind used for overhead projectors, right?. (Easy for me to get becausethey can be commandeered at school.) One thing someone might straighten me out on is why it seems unnecessary to know what messages are written on Message Foils in order for them to be effective? I had very good results with each of the Morphic Message foils, yet never took the time to examine the foils with a magnifier to see the words/phrases printed on them until much later. Ditto the P.W.B. pens. Is the mind operating consciously or subconsciously or neither - i.e., in some other mode?
Along the same lines, when messages are created/placed around the room, why is it that visitors remark on the improvement to the sound, yet don't know the messages have been placed around the room, much less what the messages are? Even if a visitor knew what the messages were, I wonder how he would interpret 'x 26 'x or 'x = PRESENT TIME for example ...I'm not sure I correctly "interpret" these messages myself.

Subject: Clipping time and messages
Sunday, Oct. 26, seems good to me. 1800 GMT seems very practical. We also go off summer time in the US on the 26th. California is -8 GMT (1800 GMT = 1000 PST). Hawaii is -10, if my windows 98 system is to be believed. That would seem a time when few people in Europe, South America, and North America would be asleep. It would be very early for those in Australia, New Zealand, and Asia. Perhaps there should be two shifts, given the time range of the world.
This should be very interesting. Perhaps a variation on the 100th monkey? How would it work? We'd clip items or do an alternate activity, since Richard suggested not everyone needs to use the Clip. Would the clipping start at 1800 and be finished by a certain time, so we would be able to assess any effects? If the activities took too long, some might not get the full effect before starting to listen to music. Will thiscause a worldwide drain on electricity when we all turn on our amps at the same time? They were worried about the Y2K problem. What threat does Belting pose? Look out, world. Here we come.
Geoff raises interesting thoughts about the messages. I've never examined the foils - too lazy to get out a magnifying glass, perhaps. Knowledge of them wouldn't seem to make much difference, however. Otherwise, how would people who aren't aware of them note a positive change in sound? Some might call it subconscious. I'm going to propose they might be hyperconscious, in other words, going beyond the conscious, rather than below it. Perhaps that's splitting hairs, but I think there is a difference, at least in the way I look at it.
There has been a little more activity in posts recently. That's always fun for me. It's always interesting to find out others experience in the Belt world. Thanks, everyone.

You seem to be expecting quite a sizeable group on Sunday, and so I am just hoping nobody is foolish enough to turn their amplifier to '11' during the proceedings. And if we all used 'The Carpenters' music as test material, we may stop global conflict. Still, here's the proposed run-down.
At approximately 17.45 hours GMT the participant will play a well known and liked test piece(s) of music. Any Wagnerians need to be sensible.
At 18.00 hours GMT those participants with Clips will spend up to 30 minutes Clipping items not previously Clipped. Everyone else - yes, the group without Clips - must do something different, and hopefully not mood altering.
At 18.30, we will all return to our systems, and listen to the test piece(s) again.
We will then post our findings.
When suggesting items to Clip, I plan to Clip things outside of the home such as trees, lamp posts, bits of fence. Indeed anything that doesn't get me arrested. I am quite interested anyway in whether I should be going on long walks to 'Clip-Up' the neighbourhood. After all, if my fridge makes such a difference, is a tree 50 yards away less important??
As for messages, one really needs to return to Sheldrake, and his propositions such as how a dog 'knows' its owner is coming home, and how we know if someone is staring at the back of us. Like the lateral line of the fish, or olfactory organs of a fish, we sense things unconsciously, subliminally at some distance. The messages change a pattern, and the words of the message are the vehicle for change. Birds did not learn to peck the tops of milk bottles around the world through higher education, but through their response to a pattern established in nature.
Freud indicated over a hundred years ago that man over-values consciousness (and sight for that matter), and we must not fall into a similar trap.
Hope that helps.

Subject: Re: Re: Clipping time and messages
Some moderate grousing about the proposed experiment this coming Sunday follows:
If everyone in the experiment uses the P.W.B clip or in some other way spends time tweaking his system/environment prior to 1800 GMT on Sunday the experiment will be inconclusive as far as non-locality is concerned. In other words, If one or more persons in the group of P.W.B. tweakers hears an improvement in sound after the end of the 30 minutes of tweaking, non-local effects cannot be proved to be the cause of the improvements because any improvements heard can be attributed simply to the tweaking a person did to his own system/environment. (We already know that the clip and the other products work locally; thus there should be not surprise if an improvement is heard.
In order to help prove non-locality effects you will need participants in the experiment who do no tweaking prior to the experiment, who will simply listen before and after. If those participants hear an improvement in the sound in their systems, then one might be able to say that non-local effects were responsible. Even under those conditions, there can still be some other (unknown) influences on the experiment; but if the person(s) who are the control group (do not tweak) are widely distributed geographically, I imagine that increases the probability of non-locality being the culprit.
Please correct me if I misunderstood the intent of the experiment, I do think the experiment could be very interesting.

Subject: In reply to V.R. Sola and Geoff Kait.
The language for the morphic
messages is important but in addition, also is the person writing the message,
as is the Red 'x' Pen. Perhaps I can explain further. The language stands on
it's own - it is the method used to 'tap into' a strong morphic resonance. You
(the human being) do not need to understand the message. As a hypothetical
example. Say, you personally do not speak or understand the German language but
a friend writes a beneficial message for you in the German language with the
Red 'x' Pen and instructs you to attach it to an item of audio equipment -
which you do and you perceive an improvement in the sound. The message,
although written in the German language, if translated into English, actually
says THIS EQUIPMENT PRODUCES GOOD SOUND O.K. but you had no idea what it had
said. It is the message and the words of that message which are being used to
tap into an already established strong morphic resonance. For example. As Geoff
says, our six Morphic Message Foils each carry a different beneficial message
but you cannot actually read the messages. Each beneficial message is composed
by us following extensive experiments, transferred to the computer, repeated
continually down the length and then reduced and reduced and reduced on the
computer and then printed out onto various specially treated Foils. The whole
(printed) Foil is then further extensively treated by us. You canthen cut a 3
mm (or more) strip and you will get a full beneficial message each time and
then attach that 3 mm strip onto various objects. You will probably have
discovered by now that the more of the different Morphic Message Foils you
attach to an object, the greater the beneficial effect. Even WE cannot get all
the messages we want onto one, single label or Foil - hence the six different
Morphic Message Foils - many of them different materials. Also, all our devices
are 'treated' at each stage of production. The Red 'x' Pen is also specially
'treated'. Now, the role of the human being. The experiment to do is the
following. Have your photograph in the deep freezer (as described in our paper
"What a Mess" on our web page) Write a beneficial message (such as the one I
gave previously) on a label with the Red 'x' Pen and attach that message to an
item of equipment. Listen to some music. The sound will be perceived as having
improved, then remove that message label. Now, remove your photograph from the
deep freezer and write another identical message with the Red 'x' Pen (but this
time it is written without your photograph in the deep freezer) and attach that
latest label onto the same piece of equipment and listen again. The sound will
be perceived as having deteriorated and you will not get the better sound back
until you remove that latest label, until you put your photograph back into the
deep freezer and until you attach the previous label (which had been written
with your photograph in the deep freezer) onto the piece of equipment. You are
improving the effect of writing the message by improving you (via your
photograph).
These three things (the beneficial message., the
Red 'x' Pen and the human being) are all combined to create the best effect.
So, in answer to Mr Sola's question "Can one just print messages using the
colour Red on an ink jet printer ?" The brief answer is that there are many
more things which make up the whole effect than just printing messages with an
ink jet printer.

Subject: Re: Clipping time and messages
Geoff,
I think I agree with you but let me clarify what I think you are saying.
If a non-Clipping participant applies foil, for example, during the time when the rest of us are Clipping, he changes his environment, and thus the conclusions he can draw as to what has effected any putative change are limited. However, someone who has changed nothing, might still hear the benefit of that foil, plus any other Clipping that goes on.
As to locality, I agree. But I thought that if we were to treat un-Clipped items outside of the home, there might be some purpose in that. A pure model of course would include just myself doing it - if it's OK with the neighbourhood! - then anything registered by anyone else could be a pure North London phenomenon. In my suggested model, we will not be able to distinguish as to which changes are related to local or distal effects. This I think leaves us with a number of possibilities:-
1. That only I Clip in the time period, and that this would clarify the 'action at a distance' hypothesis, as long as nobody writes messages or applies foil during the same period. We obviously cannot control totally for this, but then there aren't so many of us globally for it to be a huge risk.
2. We have a fun and scientifically poor first step which clarifies whether things outside of the home, either globally or locally affect perception. From there we would distil out some more thorough testing. Further, those without Clips or Foils etc., would detect any changes.
I really don't mind, as we are not about to submit this yet to 'Nature'. Both will be interesting. What does anyone else think?
As for other confounding factors. Well, they will always be there, and the question is whether Clipping, like the beat of the butterfly's wings, can lead to a more massive change globally. I think that is an interesting question, and those without Clips could tell us.
Thanks for the stimulating response.
Where now then?

ON Utility poles, Mail box, Fence (multiple parallel lines- may be similar to bar codes), 2 out side HVAC units, all meters, Point of entry of water, electric wires, at the gate in to the compound, outside pole light sign board. and every hole in the perimeter of the house (safe hole) such as every door and window. It took a while. They do work. Of course we did not use any audio related messages. Picked up some words from greeting cards, words used from several centuries such as peace peace peace. in Sanskrit script "om shanti shanti, shanti" Happiness peace prosperity for all. Peace health prosperity more than O.K Happiness and joy has more priority etc.

Subject: Sunday details
Geoff brings up some interesting points which Richard addressed well. It would seem to be a good idea for some people to volunteer to do nothing with P.W.B. treatments and simply listen before and after. That way we could get a taste of various experiences. Only having Richard clipping doesn't seem as potentially revealing, however. Going by the Hundredth Monkey example, don't we need enough people doing something to reach a critical mass of sorts? One monkey washing didn't have much of an immediate effect. (Of course, perhaps this is merely reflective of my morphic obsession regarding the washing of all my fruits and vegetables.)
One observation that might be made is whether our clipping, foiling, etc. produces a quantum increase in improved sound. In other words, since many of us are familiar with a certain level of improvement aftertreating objects, will we perceive a greater increase than we might normally have experienced in the past? Though not at all a highly scientific experiment, I am interested in whether that might occur.
Of course, it doesn't bother me a bit if only some interesting anecdotal evidence is reported. But then I'm a very trusting soul who has never taken my photograph out of the freezer for a while then put it back. If May says that works, it's good enough for me. I don't want to miss a moment of improved sound by noting thermal changes in a snapshot of my mug. Fortunately, others are willing to make such sacrifices, much to my own aural benefit. So what will the procedure be? Only clipping/treating outside allowed? And would that include things attached to our abodes or completely free of them? Perhaps we could do all of the above, some working inside, others outside, and some remaining neutral. This is all great fun to me. Whatever the results, it will be interesting to see what happens.

Subject: Re: Sunday details
I align myself with P.S. Gary precisely. We simply do not know what might or might not happen until we try it. I think the idea of some sort of cumulative non-local effect is best tested by everyone doing some serious P.W.B. activity (clipping or not )at the specified time. This should then be followed by everyone re-listening to test record at the specified time and noting results. Perhaps one or two volunteers could also do both listenings without doing any clipping or any other treatment... but we only need one or two of these volunteer-monitors to make the point. The more people who are engaged in Belting objects in or outside the home at the same time round the world the better!

Subject: Sunday treatments
Thank you, Kenneth for your support. Is this what politics feels like? But seriously, folks . . .
What are the plans for Sunday? Are we to indulge in world-wide P.W.B. treating? Or just one?
Here's what I propose: could we all clip/treat this Sunday and then perhaps another time let Richard do it singularly? I'm so eager to join in the fun that I'm selfishly proposing group action. This is the wonder of the Internet, to make such things possible.
Gary Lee.
Hello Everyone,
I'm all for the worldwide clip/treatment this Sunday unless Richard has drawn up some specific instructions. What people will make of me skulking around at night apparently closely examining lamp posts and drain covers I dread to dwell upon!

Subject: Re: Sunday treatments
Everyone,
I guess a bit of decision making is now needed. For many to have a sense of involvement I am suggesting the following plan:-
1. Times as before.
2. Everyone who wishes to take part in the treatment phase, should treat objects outside the boundary of their home and garden. I suspect much of this will be done with the Clip.
3. Those not taking part in the treatment phase will, at 18.30 hours GMT, be able to distinguish distal from local effects. The rest of us will have the difficulty of knowing whether the lamp post a few years or a few thousand miles has the greater effect - if any!
Hope this clarifies matters.
And as Gary says, we can repeat this to define which factors are more useful later.

Then it's out into the night (here, anyway) and I've seen some prime sites - trees, pole for 'Disabled Parking' etc. Expect to post again 6.45pm GMT.

Subject: For myself - a fabulous difference.
I got back just before 18.25 hours, and posted my last post, sat down and geared up the disc I had used last. It was the nearest thing to hand - Brendel/Haitink playing Beethoven's Fourth Piano Concerto form the 1970s. On my DVD player, I had forgotten that when I press the skip button to the track required it will then start playing. And so I was gobsmacked as these soft piano notes flowed gently from the speakers, devoid of hiss, with a silky smoothness, against an ink-like background. As the orchestra came in, it was also rich and smooth - perhaps losing a little at the top? Well, a change to the other test track would help.
I had chosen 'Moving' from Kate Bush's first album for various reasons. I once heard it in the 1980's on Linn and Naim gear sounding so amazing, I have loved it since. And it is moving. It has a rather full and loose bass, and filigree instrumentation, often hard to follow.
Well, whilst Kate's voice was smoother and more lifelike in a larger hall/studio, I could not believe how much the bass had tightened, and yet the cymbals seemed so metallic. I could now follow the piano, acoustic guitar, and possibly harp, all very easily. The vocal arrangements, pure magic.
We now have Mr Ludvig's work (Number 5 now) playing like a dream in the background, with my wife shouting 'this is fabulous'.
Now I don't know if this is all local, but my thought is this - 'Gentlemen, we have done something good for the world!'
I'll post more in a minute about what I did.

Subject: It worked for me
Hi All
I listened to music from 17:45 to 18:00. Then took three P.W.B. devices from my Hi-Fi system then listened again and the sound was not good. 18:30 listened again - sound was restored, experiment must have worked. Refitted devices and sound got even better.
In my opinion it look's like it worked.

Subject: What I did.
Having chosen the Clip as device of choice, I had forgotten what a devil it is to get the tweezers on the nut at the end in the dark. There were also rather too many people about, and Clipping lamp posts under their bright light not easy. Still, better to be hung for a sheep as a lamb!
And so Clip in one hand, tweezers in the other, I set about Clipping mainly lamp posts, posts with small signs on, many trees, and two or three Telecommunication junction boxes. I had longed to find the local electricity sub-station to treat its fences, but could not remember where it was.
I am sorry to say I did not count what I did, but imagine it was around 20 - 30, or perhaps 40 objects in total. I would have preferred to do more, and may now go out at 3.00 hours when no-one is around.
Still, we have yet to ascertain what benefit I have taken from Gary's industry in California etc. I am also wondering if it is all instant, and after 19.00 hours will try Ms Bush again. It may be one's brain catching up, but it might also be sleeper processes.
I will now be quiet for a short time.

Subject: World wide Clipping
Dear all,
All I can say is wow!!! What a major difference that my 12 year old daughter and I noticed in the before and after 1800 GMT experiment. Used a couple cuts off of a recent Mariah Carey CD that's only been foiled, creamed, tapped, and bar code treated with the P.W.B. pen. My environment has been lightly treated with one Green Magnadisc, one Red Magnadisc, Foil, Cream, Spiratube, and some ML that I just acquired (also some freezer and picture treatments). I'm wondering if this marvellous effect will hold. It was truly one of the most major improvements in sound that I've experienced. To tell the truth I was somewhat skeptical at the effect of a relatively small number of members clipping. I am relatively new to P.W.B. (since late Spring 2003) and am looking forward to adding more and more treatments to my equipment, CD's, records, and environment. Hope other heard the same improvements that I did.
Sincerely,

Subject: Re: World wide Clipping
I think there are many implications to consider. Firstly, as with entropy, there are many processes in the world that erode what we hope to be good sound. These will continue. Gentlemen, we are on a mission to change that, and now know everyone time we treat something, we help each other. Secondly, these apparently small things do matter. The 'butterfly effect' is well named because these changes have larger consequences. Thirdly distal effects are important. what to do I don't know, except whenever you can Clip (or something else) do it. Lastly when someone close comments spontaneously, the difference is a big one. Enjoy your day!

Subject: Initial impressions
I envy Richard. His results seemed to have been quite dramatic. However, I perceived a difference, not dramatic but audible. My first selection was the theme from "Capability Brown". (Anyone in the UK remember that TV show?) When I listened to it, pre-clipping, I immediately thought, "That bass sounds a bit muddy. The CD needs more treatment." It had only been clipped and had a few messages on it. No foils, etc. I felt a bit skeptical sitting down after my jaunt outside, but put on the disc and listened - to more detailed bass and a general increase in depth with the recording. Amazing that clipping trees, rocks, and sign posts could have any effect.
The same thing happened with the other selections. The bass was fuller and more detailed. On "Braid the Raven Hair" from The Mikado the recording is very "left-heavy". Listening the second time, while the left was still by far the most prominent, the bass violins were stronger, as was the right channel in general. Again slightly more detail was heard overall. The third selection was an HIP version of Vivaldi's Concerto for 4 violins. As with the previous two the bass was more satisfying and there was a depth and detail to the recording not heard before our worldwide effort.
Now maybe I cheated because I clipped my carport and the fence around the patio, also. But the carport is completely detached from my home and the fence around the patio is about 10 feet away. But there is a difference. What was really driven home is how much treating the environment can have an effect. If clipping the street lamp 25 meters away can have an effect, it became obvious how treating silverware, lights, and inside objects can help. With so much work around the house the past two years, sometimes it seemed useless to try and treat the insides. There is so much to do. But this makes me realize that 15-30 minutes of just clipping inside should have a significant effect. That much time I can spare.
This seems to have had an effect. Amazing. It will be interesting to hear from the "non-treaters".
One question that came to mind was: how long will it last? Any theories?
Thanks to all for making this a most interesting Sunday.

Hello all,
I've heard a difference! Used Fleetwood Mac "Rumours" standard edition CD. Left the volume level well alone before and after the treating session just in case it threw me off with differing levels. The sound is more ambient and with clearer bass and slightly more depth to it. I too clipped every telephone connection box I could find but could not clip the local sub stn. as there were too many people about. Did loads of lamp posts and cable TV man hole covers. I'm glad I wasn't trying to work with a Red X Pen- I'd be in jail by now! Wow! what am I going to make of this? Now going back to play more music.

I turned on the system here at 1400 GMT, as my system sounds best after several hours. I did nothing (which I'm excellent at btw) during the period of time (4 hours) prior to the 1/2 hour tweaking session 1800-1830 GMT, nor did I do anything P.W.B.- wise during the 1/2 hour period. I spent around an hour prior to 1700 GMT listening to selections on Musique de la Grece Antique on Harmonia Mundi France label, an exceptionally good recording (CD version) (which is fully treated). I took care to play some pieces using the "pause" technique on my DVD player to get best possible sound -- for some reason "pausing" for one minute during the piece improves the sound quite a bit, at least on mine unit. At any rate, after I got my bearings, I stopped listening and went out to pick up some supplies and returned at 1800 GMT, in time to listen for the next half hour 1800-1830. I did not observe an significant improvement to the sound during that time, sorry to report. At 1845 GMT I grabbed my trusty clip and went around the building here, attacking the cement steps out front, four or five trees, shrubs, iron bannisters, (my) car, the local power co. transformer, all telephone/electric boxes, A/C and building structural members. I also did some things inside - water heater, some power cords, doors, This "local" clipping produced easily recognizable improvements. In fact, the sound has not been this good before, esp. dynamics, "spacial density" and power and expansiveness in the bass.

Hello Again,
I had listened to several other
CD's before the Clipping trip and I can say that there is a noticeable
improvement in those too, all in the same area of better ambience etc. They are

Subject: Geoff's experience
I think many of us listened after 1830 GMT. Could that made any difference? Maybe the accumulation was easier to hear. Or maybe it is a local phenomenon, since Geoff heard a difference after treating outside his home.
One thing is apparent: treating outside as well as inside is effective. How much worldwide effect was achieved still seems unclear. Whether local or global, it's been fun.

Subject: Re: The Experiment
My posting starts with an awkward confession. Having been one of the exponents of serious clipping at the appointed time, I could not - for reasons I will not go into - perform. However, I was able to listen to a track at the appointed time and relisten to it again at the appointed time. So, unintentionally, I became one of or perhaps the only control in this experiment. I did no clipping of my own, nor did I (or could I ) apply any other treatments in or outside the home. My findings, free from clandestine, sinister or political motives, are as follows:
1. First listening: I selected a live Art Blakey track with plenty of up front drumming and jazzy solos, from the likes of Bud Powell, Lee Morgan and Wayne Shorter. The track sounded much better than before. This was only the first listening! Did anyone else have this experience of the first listening sounding well above average?
2. The second listening. A washing machine upstairs interfered at first. But, after this calmed down, I could here a definite improvement in ambience and especially in the fullness of the trumpet sound. The drumming was incredibly real and convincing for the second system I was using at the time. Most convincing of all was the audience cheering at the end. Whereas before it sounded a bit like sand being poured onto a table top, now it sounded like real people applauding and cheering.
So all in all, I would say that the experiment was doubly significant:
a) when P.W.B. users synchronise there could be an improvement just because they are listening together, b) the non-local effect seems to have worked.
This is not to say that I have never noticed improvements in sound without treating before. Sometimes 10.0 - 12.0 at night produces inexplicable changes for the better. But in this case it was still prime time for interference! (washing machines, cookers, immersion heaters etc.) I conclude that the further improvement in Art Blakey was brought about by the non-local clipping effect.
N.B. This is the first time I have
felt that an Art Blakey record sounds as good as I think it really should. Too
often his drumming sounded too far back in the mix. Now it was right up there
where it should be!

Subject: Re: Geoff's experience
I think you are right that the local effect was significant, and I cannot tell if the 'global' element was a significant part of my experience at all. Certainly some picked it up, and others didn't.
I would like to take the opportunity of being one of the passive recipients of a similar test where I do not Clip anything, just to test how sensitive my 'antennae' are to the phenomenon.
The improvements to sound still seem to be around; indeed the kitchen radio sounds just great, as did the bleep of the alarm clock!
I'll post some more on future testing later.
And for those who didn't pick up much benefit, can you listen to the test pieces again later today to see if there are sleeper processes. Clearly, what I attributed to Graham's devices may also have related to Geoff's Clipping. So this will not hold well if there has been some other work going on. However, I am wondering if the general comments on improved ambient detail do give clues as to which aspects of the sound might improve.

Subject: Re: The Experiment
In regards to Kenneth's posting, I did notice that the two test cuts I played today just prior to 1800 GMT sounding exceedingly well, better I think than when I last listened to them a week earlier. The real surprise, however, was in the replaying at 1830 GMT- a really jaw-dropping experience as I tried to describe in my earlier cryptic message that resulted from my excitement in what I had just heard. There was wonderful transparency and realism in the vocals and really serious bass from my little Roger LS35a speakers. You can count me as another control-not having the Clip, I decided to listen before and after without doing any treatments. This pre-1800 GMT/post 1830 GMT difference was also there in my car too! Right before listening to my home stereo, I played a selection from one of my favorite Irish vocalists, Mairead Ni Mhaoinaigh (from the band Altan) on my car CD. Driving hours later (about 2100 GMT) to visit my Uncle (a new P.W.B. convert!), I replayed the same selection and was very impressed with the substantial improvement in sound. Thanks to all for sharing - these are exciting times

Hello All,
It's now nearly 24 hours after I posted my listening results and have just returned home and played the same tracks again. The sound is just as good now. It might even be a little better with a deepening of theimprovement areas I mentioned, i.e. cleaner bass and more ambience - it's easier to hear echo on the vocals and "feel" the recording venue. Regarding Kenneth's observation of better sound at the very start of the experiment, I am pretty sure it did not happen in my case but another comment made in yesterdays postings did apply to me. My system sounds better late at night and when I am alone in the house (maybe the latter is because there is one less mobile phone etc. to cause havoc).

Subject: Re: The Experiment
I'm much in agreement with what you write Kevin, and have become rather interested in aspects of the whole thing. Firstly, as far as I can tell, only three of us carried out any treatment during the 'treatment phase' on Sunday. Not a lot of things going on globally. Secondly, was the type of effect perceived by some a particular variety of improvement. I find it hard to describe, but have a sense that Clipping objects outside of the home had particular effects on smoothness, and ambient detail. If one didn't like such an effect, it would seem an improvement. This isn't to criticise those that heard little or no effect, but heck, I really want to understand it. Thirdly, should we have another go, and if so, what would more than three people achieve?
Answers soon please!

Subject: Re: Re: The Experiment
First of all the whole thing seems extraordinary: that with only three people clipping, it seems incredible that we were able to pick up any improvement at all. Secondly, I also noticed that the improvement lasted all evening and that the radio sounded great. What I find remarkable is that two of us who carried out no clipping noticed an improvement and perhaps by coincidence or for some other reason felt that the sound was better than normal even on the first listening. Now for a wild question - one which is almost certainly impossible to answer - did or could anyone who was listening to music on Sunday evening but had no knowledge of P.W.B. or any inkling of the activities of the clippers f neighbourhood objects notice an improvement in the quality of their sound? Alternatively, could it be that the activity of clipping has the effect of turning the user of the clip into a kind of "device?" This would explain why the people who clipped in the experiment noticed an improvement in sound after they had done the clipping (even though the clipping was in a remote location from their home). It would also explain why - in a less dramatic way - the users of P.W.B. clips and other materials just playing music in different places at the same time might influence each other's perception of sound. In which case we are looking at two phenomena.
1. The passive effect of clipping taking place far away by someone else (Global) and/or the passive effect of other P.W.B. users listening to music at the same time though remote from each other.
2. The local-personal effect where the user of the clip gains better perception of sound for some extended time after using the clip, no matter where they are or where they go.

So there were only three of us? That's amazing. Ken's point about people becoming devices is interesting. And the idea about the simultaneous listening is intriguing. Could our equipment, most of which is treated I assume, being used at the same time be adding to the effect?
I'm all for trying it again. It would be interesting to get more people involved. Sunday seems to be a good day.
What many seem to note is increased bass detail. That was one thing that was most noticeable to me. This is a lot of fun, isn't it? I like the activity on the board it has generated.

I was unable to take part in Sundays experiment as I think that the Minister at chapel may have taken a dim view of my walking around Chapel clipping pews and pulpit in the middle of the service. However I have just conducted my own experiment by listening and then going into the garden (in the rain I might add) and clipping the gates and posts, fences, Garage door and structure, garden furniture and pots, a tree, various walls and the outside light. Back indoors and another listen. The improvement in ambience, detail, and dynamics was quite marked. It also sounded as though the volume had been turned up a notch. Overall the result was quite a surprise given that I had spent no more that 5 minutes outside and presumable no-one will have been clipping at the same time. (Tuesday in Britain)

Subject: The Experiment
I must admit I thought there would be many more of us using the Clip than in fact appears to be the case, so the whole experiment seems even more extraordinary to me now than at the time. The good sound is still with me and I too have been pondering the many possibilities opened up. I would love to have an answer to Ken's wild Question but as he said it's almost impossible to find a way of knowing. I can offer a possible answer to another point in Ken's posting. When I went out Clip in hand last Sunday evening, some of the first objects I clipped were a telecommunications box across the road, a number of telephone line poles which included the pole that supplies the line to our house. I also clipped a number of cable TV inspection covers etc. This alone could be enough to account for the sound lift I experienced due to the closeness of the connection those service objects have to our territory. To try and test this further I brought the Clip and Tweezer to work and clipped as much of the works structure and services as possible. I work for an engineering company some two miles away involving the repair of heavyindustrial motors and transformers etc. there is quite a large power supply to the building and I gave this close attention with the Clip. Listening when I got home did not produce any further benefit that I could detect. I offer the above as feedback to the second point in Ken's posting. I would be delighted to have another go at this experiment, either passive or active and any Sunday would be good.

I just wanted to post something about the nature of enquiry, and that when we carry out any joint test, these should be no pressure to either hear, or not hear a change.
I admit to having felt terrified that I would hear no change Sunday evening, after getting others in on the act, but after many years of stupid experiences, I have learnt to trust my own judgement, and abandon any thoughts of being too suggestible.
The use of P.W.B. products legitimises nothing, and individual responses need careful examination. If you hear change good, and if you don't, good. We should never pursue mindless agreement to feel comfortable, and should neither mock or praise any particular response to a process/device.
Saying that, what should we do next?
My vote is for one person to Clip, and not me.

Subject: Re: Re: A little better?
After some consideration I think Ill go out on a limb and speculate that the recent two large solar flare events the most recent one being "felt" on Earth yesterday and today, might actually have a positive influence on the sound.
It is commonly held that geomagnetic storms (can) produce worse sound, that the geomagnetic disturbance causes problems in the commercial power system, which in turn produces anomalies inpower supplies, etc. But, as several have mentioned in post mortem of the experiment on Sunday, the sound seemed to be extra good prior to the start of tweaking on Sunday. As it turns out, on Sunday we were experiencing the first geomagnetic disturbance resulting from a large Coronal Mass Ejection couple days before. Another even larger solar flare the other day (Monday?) produced the current geomagnetic storm, which arrived last night I think.
I have gotten used to using a demagnetization device (bulk tape eraser) routinely on cables and ICs as well as CDs prior to listening, and its effects are almost always recognizable and predictable. Could a magnetic storm have similar effect on cables and ICs, etc. that actually produce better sound? Kind of like a giant tape eraser.
In listening here off and on the last three days there has not been an occasion when the sound "deteriorated," but has gotten noticeably better, better even than immediately following my clipping activities here on Sunday. This improvement to the sound is presumably because of local clipping (Sunday and today), perhaps also due to non-local clipping effects, but perhaps also because of the unusual solar activity.

Richard brings up a good point of not feeling pressures. One thing I like about this board is the level of respect shown for the posts and posters. I'm always slightly nervous anytime a P.W.B. treatment is used, being vaguely terrified that no effect will be heard and somehow that will turn me into a Morphic traitor. However, I have rarely fallen victim to my fears. It is always rather magical. Sometimes effects are far more subtle than others, but the payoff for better sound has been quite consistent.
Geoff's use of the demagnetizer is interesting. There have been a number of people at AA who have noted positive effects from its use. It's interesting that it works along with P.W.B. treatments. Thanks for the tip, Geoff. (Of course, I'm assuming that your demagnetizer has been foiled, creamed, clipped, etc.)
By the way, I didn't notice any general improvement in sound before the P.W.B. activity on Sunday.
As for my vote, I would like to see a greater level of participation, if that's possible, before trying just a single person. Somehow I remain a bit skeptical about the effect of a solitary clipper, though I'm willing to join in the experiment. I'd be willing to volunteer to solo, but my area doesn't seem a very good candidate for the job. There aren't many street lights, nor is there an overabundance of trees or other treatable objects.

Gary,
Whilst going solo may not seem as much fun, the person would not be alone, as the rest of us will be participating. I also understand the problem of finding enough objects to Clip outside of the home. I myself was thinking of going to a small 'wooded' area near our home for the next test, where there would be a few more trees. Personally I would vote for a single Clipper next, mainly to clarify for myself the difference between proximal and distal effects. I guess I think I am fairly sensitive to the effect, and want to see how much the effect can 'travel'. How can we Europeans persuade you?

Subject: Persuasion
It doesn't take much persuasion for someone to go solo. I am amenable to another experiment, regardless of the type. I will listen pre-clip and post-clip, and report any findings. Any trial will be good fun as far as I'm concerned.

Subject: Equipment upgrades
I am considering buying a DAC. This has raised some interesting questions about new equipment and P.W.B. treatments. The DAC company is offering me a good, used older model of their DAC at a reduced price, about $150 less than a new model. Now I'm wondering if I should get the older model and put the $150 into P.W.B. treatments or get the new model. The answer seems obvious - get the older model and treat with P.W.B. products. But I wondered what other views of the situation are.
Another alternative would be to skip the DAC altogether, invest in more treatments for the CD player, and look on that as an upgrade. I have an Arcam CD92 CD player, which is a dandy unit. But like so many bitten by the audiophile bug, upgrading is always a temptation. What are other views or experiences of equipment upgrades and P.W.B. treatments? Also, any recommendations on treatments that might work as major upgrades?
And finally, while we're at it, any comments on the new Foil and Creams?

Subject: Equipment Upgrades
I'm delighted someone mentioned the new foil and creams. I received a sample a few days ago and held off trying it in case there was another outdoor experiment and did not want to cause confusion with any results obtained. But, when you have a new P.W.B. product sitting on your coffee table, resistance soon melts away. All I will say at the moment is that for someone who said recently "I think I have reached some sort of P.W.B. high point" - I have placed an order! Regarding upgrades, I have relied on P.W.B. those past ten years or so except for natural disasters like related tot's poking little fingers into speaker cones and the replacement of a worn out Arcam CD player with another Arcam unit (CD62). As I related in an earlier posting, Belting of our environment over the years has all but cured me of the upgrade bug. However, I still look at the latest Linn Sondek the way Homer Simpson looks at Doughnuts! (I own one built 1984) Some things Peter Belt will never cure.

Hey there Gary,
Save your money, You will be buying A HDCD system in the near future anyway. P.W.B. is an upgrade, and so is better equipment an upgrade.
It must be an expensive DAC if $150 is the discount. I personally will not waste any more money on CDs or any other related Low resolution digital equipment. CD has finally (after many years of complaints from me) had its day in the Hi-Fi world. At least from my Vantage point.

Dear Friend
Here's my point of view : go for the better audio item first, then treat it when funds allow.
I have this week changed my pre amp. The new one , yet untreated, is sounding far better than the previous one, already lightly treated to good effect in the recent past.
Quite simply : treating a product allows it to perform at 100%, but not at 200%..... No magic here. My new pre amp is a world class killer, that's all. When treated, it should send me straight to audio nirvana....
You simply have to be sure first that your intended audio investment is worth it : much better sound quality from it (ask for a loan). Then, you'll treat the DAC after the purchase, slowly and as funds allow.

At least in my case the low cost P.W.B. Treatments (none more than 75$, No Green Cream, no Quantum Clip), but extensive which includes most of the P.W.B. products below that price level of $75. cured my upgradites.
No more buying cable of the month.( I have a box full of power conditioners, cables, feet etc.) No more visits to Audio assylum or Audiogon. However my system is good to begin with, with a Frank Van Alstine DAC, pre and power amplifiers, EFE T 36 Speakers. It is a reasonably good system.
It took a while, several week ends to reach this stage. Some of the treatments grow with time, a kind of delayed response, some cumulative. I do not know whether I treated my system, myself or my environment

I have certainly been cured of the upgradites too. To the point that I don't even feel the need to use more P.W.B. Well after about a year of no P.W.B. upgrades the pollution is encroaching upon my listening experience. After experiencing P.W.B. the minute differences between two different interconnects pails into insignificance. All my spare upgrade money has been going into records this last year.

Sorry, I cannot let you say such things.
Know where to buy your audio items, stay away from the big brands, buy/build purist gear, and you could well stop saying things like "the minute differences between two different interconnects". How far from the truth.....
Peter and May offer us with their products something unique, that nothing else can bring in our quest for realistic music reproduction. But, if you are happy with the type of items audio magazines are recommending, you are still only half way to audio nirvana !
Cables ? Try some ultra purist DIY cable, made exclusively of enamelled OCC solid copper wire + Eichmann bullet plugs. Worrying should you cannot hear the HUGE difference between this, and any so called reference and treated cable from Audioquest, Cardas, Van den Hul and the like....
Please do it, and then you'll get a better view on the matter.

Jean-Francois brings up a good point with his observation that Peter and May offer something unique. It is well worth remembering and offers some balance. New gear can offer certain advantages but P.W.B. offers something else. Now that I think about it, if forced to make a choice between no new gear or no more P.W.B. products, there is no question what I'd choose. I realize I could live without new gear, but a life without additional foils would almost be unthinkable at this point.

Chris,
I may be getting rather dull on this issue, but if you had read about how effective 'Clipping' trees in your neighbourhood is, you might think twice about possible damaging your transport in this manner. I think we need to try to move away from the equipment, even though treatment of the equipment does work. I confine myself now to just using Foils and Labels on the exterior, and for expensive equipment the risk of going inside is just too great. Anyone who has tried the new Inverted Foil will know how extraordinary some sliver of Foil on the case of something can be, without the use of a screwdriver.
Hope that helps

Overall, I agree with this position. The conventional hierarchy of the Hi-Fi world remains, but there is the complication that a P.W.B.'d device may enhance the lower priced level product to a level above an untreated item. However, the higher priced item when treated may indeed take one to audio heaven. I think if one has the major P.W.B. items - especially the Quantum Clip - then it is feasible to invest in the latest/better product, knowing that one's treatments/environment will show it at its veritable best.
A word of warning though: comparisons are spurious unless you have experienced full treatments. I have possibly frightened folks with what you can do with a CD. It doesn't stop there. Comparing an untreated item with a very partially treated item may not be fair to the potential of Peter's work.
In the end I would go for the best and then spend a fortune on P.W.B. devices - how's that for advice!

And a final note, calling all solderers. I want to get some Smart Metal, but lost May's reference to what is needed to properly treat he soldering iron, etc. I remember she mentioned the solderer should have a photo in the freezer, but can't remember what else is needed. Gary,
Re: Major products - I wanted to indicate that there are labels - and expensive ones - such as the 'Sound Has priority', 'Missing Link' and Copper/Aluminium 'Inside' Labels that go beyond Foils. There is nothing exactly like the Clip, but on a piece of equipment don't forget the labels. Similarly, there are many more Ring Ties than the red ones, with different patterns for different wires. A bit of Foil, Cream and red ties is not big league stuff, though still very effective.
As for soldering, well you can add all the various Ring Ties to the cable, in addition to Spiratube, apply Foils to the plastic body. The spray, Cream (all of them!), Clip and freeze. That would take you some way.

Thanks to Andreas and Richard for the information. I'm beginning to see that P.W.B. treatments almost form a subgroup for audiophiles. Hi,
I'm pretty new to the P.W.B. world (have some Rainbow Foil, some Cream Electret, and several samples sent out with the last couple of years' newsletters) and was wondering if anyone could make some suggestions on P.W.B. tweaks (freezing, etc.) that could be applied to my turntable, cartridge, and vinyl collection. I know Kevin Kehoe made a statement about applying 20 lbs of belt devices to his MM cartridge and was wondering if he or anyone else could elaborate on this.
Thanks in advance for any tips/suggestions.

Hello Chris,
If I had 20 lbs of P.W.B. products I would be a very happy Belter indeed! Seriously though, I think what you refer to is something I said in a previous Newsletter. I replaced a worn moving coil pickup cartridge costing hundreds of pounds sterling, with a Goldring moving magnet type which cost only tens of pounds sterling. It's not that I am against upgrading HI-FI - my problem is that I can't now afford to upgrade as I did when a mere youth. Other interests also demand a share of my "disposable income" so I have, over the past ten years or so, chosen to follow the P.W.B. path to increasing my enjoyment of recorded sound. If others can both upgrade and treat with P.W.B. Products, that's great.
There is enough room for every point of view and provides more insight into the effectiveness of P.W.B. treatments in general.
Hope this helps.

Subject: Re vinyl upgrades
One thing I can say is Do not freeze your vinyl. I remember someone a long while ago froze his favourite Elvis record and the sound was not as warm shall I say as before. I had this negative experience freezing an old harmonica from a salvation army store. After freezing, the harmonica lost its soul somehow. Like the energy of the man who use to love and play it had been erased. I froze some new drum Cymbals too once and the same more brittle sound resulted as well. Apart from that everything else has benefited from freezing. I might not recommend freezing the phono cartridge for possible damage to the delicate insides. The best thing for vinyl I've found is still the same old rainbow foil over the 33 1/3 rpm sign. Frosted rainbow foil is better and cream electret on the label. I would love to try the violet chunky pen. I am sure that would be an excellent treatment too. Haven't heard that one mentioned for a long while.

Dear Paul Dear All
I was glad to read your comments about freezing and loosing soul and warmth.
This is exactly what I perceived through freezing CD's.
As for the freezing of photos, that May and P.W.B. regard as essential, I perceived exactly the same: A bit more speed, rhythm and "life", but with less individuality among instruments, less warmth, and a somehow "forced", mechanical quality. I found it useful to counterbalance the sometimes dilatory and overlywarm sound that I got with some of the suggested experiments (cutting one corner from everyrectangular label on the cloths) but, was that the freezing's destination? Any comments? Did anyone else get the same results?

Subject: Freezing CD's
My experience is the opposite of Andreas, if I'm understanding the post correctly. I have found nothing but positives from freezing - greater overall detail, including improved soundstage and greater clarity.
Yesterday I went to a friend's house and treated his speakers and home theatre processor, plus the TV screen and a few odds and ends. The difference in sound was very noticeable and much more satisfactory. My friend was quite pleased and said he would listen to more music now. He had two identical CD's and we treated one, then did an a/b test. I picked out the treated CD but didn't notice as much difference as I do in my system, which is high-end gear. His equipment is basically lower-priced, popular big brands. No judgement, just a note on the type of gear. I had expected to hear a more dramatic difference on his equipment. After the first of the year I will go over again and treat the dvd player, VCR, and TV. It will be very interesting to apply the new Inverting Foil to the dvd player. But it is rewarding to find the P.W.B. treatments work in other environments. Of course, I understood that but had never had a chance to really find out first hand.
Speaking of the Inverting Foil, all the gear in my main system got treated last night - CD player, speakers, pre-amp, and amp. What an amazing difference. I heard details that had never been heard on some of the recordings before. It was hard to believe that the sound could improve so much more. The P.W.B. treatments continue to astonish.
It will be interesting to see what an effect it has on a large number of CD cases. If the effect is cumulative, it staggers the imagination as to how good the sound around my house will be. I find it interesting that the instructions recommended putting the foil on the CD case. Has anyone tried the Inverting Foil on a CD?

some comments by energy sensitive people on labels on clothing
"I took a pair of sweat pants that I think dated to the late '80s, full of holes. The tag was just a faded white thing. It had probably been washed a couple hundred times, but the energy felt as strong as in my newer clothes.
Took a pair of pants that I know with certainty I purchased in '87. Same thing.
Every T-shirt I tried.
The Jeans have a tag near crotch by the zipper; all the tags were either in the center of the lower Back, or where it would contact near the base of the neck. Where many of us seem to carry a lot of tension. I tried to feel the energy away from the tags and noticed nothing. So I presume they only invest in their little devices where they will cause the most problems. Cutting them in the corners or a slash mark is not muchhelp. Cutting them away-take it off. Seems to be the only way. Now they have tags on mattresses too. Now P.W.B. have got a garment pin to manage these adverse energy patterns.

Have to agree with Gary re the freezing of LPs, in terms of more musical presentation; I think it must be about ten years ago when I froze my first LP... I do think the more an LP is treated and the more the fridge is treated the better the results should be. Oddly enough, perhaps, treating/freezing LPs that just sit on the shelf will produce better sound when playing an LP that has not been treated/frozen.

Subject: Clothing labels
V.R. Sola brings up some interesting points about labels and their location which never occurred to me. Thank you. I have tried to cut off the corners of labels when I think about it, but removal is probably best. They would have morphic resonance with all other items by that manufacturer, wouldn't they?
One problem is that sometimes I like to know what size I bought of an item. However, that could probably be solved by getting a laundry marking pen and noting the size somewhere on the garment. The part about labels being around the neck is really interesting. My neck and shoulder tend to be quite tense. I will have to make a point to remove labels and note the results.
Removing labels will also have a positive effect for comfort. It seems to me that labels are often a source of rubbing and irritation around the neck area these days. It seems like they are using more irritating fabrics to make the labels now. Removal would solve that problem.

I have just had an experience of borrowing a so-called mains device to protect against voltage spikes which also apparently improved sound. According to some.
At the same time I tried some of Peter's new Foil, and it simply made a mockery of this alleged tweak.
To be honest, I was only interested in protecting the equipment from the dangers of being left on continuously, but Peter's Foil just diminished what others struggle to achieve in a breath.
Of course, Peter's Foil didn't come with strange quasi-electrical engineering explanations (not necessarily a bad thing) but many will fall for such things, strangely excited at their weekend membership to that group of reductionists.

Subject: Freezing-one opinion I heard
Freezing -one opinion by a energy sensitive person I know.
"There 2 aspects"
(1) Physical changes caused by low temperature and thawing process.
(2) Changes in the energy patterns.
Every object has a energy pattern, In multiple frequencies (broad spectrum). Some are inherent to the material, some acquired during the manufacturing process, some by handling and acquired during usage. They resonate and can effect other objects and US near by at times even far off. There is a constant dynamic interaction.
All conducting materials (metals), material on which some information is recorded such as CD, LP, Tape, coiled springs of bed and sofa, paper with alpha numeric information such as telephone books, CD jackets, credit cards carry some unfavourable, tension causing messages. This list is exhaustive includes jewellery, cloths worn by others which carry the previous wearers resonance patterns.
At times freezing may not be advantageous as all the good energy imprints on it may get removed, such as freezing a musical instrument, by a good player who loves music, or an object used by a noble person, or a CD which we enjoyed and appreciated several times before may effectively remove all the beneficial patterns imprinted upon it. (they may not be as enjoyable after)
Freezing also removes some acquired patterns and brings it back to original state. Any treatment given during freezing or after becomes a part of it and may stay with that for a long time. Freezing at times may not be sufficient.
Example-Freezing a remote control, telephone will remove some negative energy patterns, but by its very nature it will keep on producing known emf, RFI, ELF and other unknown unfavourable energies. Hence even though it is frozen some sort of treatment further is necessary, I think that is where foils and creams come handy.
Some objects can be treated easily such as Bar code labels with Red 'x' Pen. But labels on clothing may need removal. These some of the things I remember in our discussion. Please share your opinion.

I used to have that amp, and was very fond of it. But I like this one more: http://www.decware.com/zpage1.htm . Cheaper, with cheaper tubes, but it needs sensitive speakers, with, oddly for a single-ended amp, low impedance. My Jolida came with 6550's and sounded way better with KT88's; but it ate KT88's like cherries.

My experience has been different in that I noticed a significant overall improvement in my turntable system sound after the creaming, foiling and freezing of my inexpensive Grado GTE+1 phono cartridge. However, at the same time, other parts of my turntable were simultaneously treated, including the plinth, dust cover, tone arm, record clamp and counterweight (the latter was also frozen 2x in a semi-treated freezer). Again, results can vary widely depending on various circumstances. I also recall an earlier post to this group or in one of the newsletters about how beneficial a strip of real foil placed on a phono cartridge was.
